I just picked up a copy of Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition at Play N Trade. Only, the cart isn't a traditional Genesis cart. It looks like a Mega Drive cartridge with a Genesis label.
Is this normal? I haven't heard of any instances of MD carts with Genesis labels.

Cool. Maybe somebody had a JPN Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition and put a US label on it?
Have you tried to play the game? Perhaps it has the wrong label on it. :p

I got the game to play on my Genesis by plugging the cart into my Game Genie, which made the game come right up. It's Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition, like the label.
If this is a pirate cart, It's definitely a nice one: the cart and label are pristine.

Nope, this is the real deal produced by sega. The only "Genesis" variant NOT designed for the U.S. market.

Then how'd he end up finding an Asian game at Play n Trade??

So, uh, is this cart (and the box, maybe) worth anything, out of curiosity?

According to the other thread, complete you are looking at a crisp Mr. Jackson.

Isn't that for a different version of the game? There's a separate picture of a MD Jurassic Park (Regular) with the others in that group.
Or do I just lack reading comprehension?

I think Nunzio was looking at the listing for the original Jurassic Park instead of Rampage Edition. Your copy is worth more than $20. Since it's about as rare as Mega Games 10, you're looking at a three digit number in terms of value (if it's complete).

Yeah my bad, I had my sights on the regular edition.
You're looking at a couple Benjamins.

I saw something similar in a shop that I go to regularly. A genesis label on a asian cart. I will check it out when I go in next time. I can't remember the game, but I thought it weird.

It's missing the manual. I do have the box and the game, though. I'll see if Play N Trade misplaced the manual for it, but as of right now I've only got the box and game. Think this may affect the value too much?
I'm not one to buy something specifically to resell it, but, damn, if this is worth a three-digit price, I may just have to see what I can get for it.

Unless it's a pirate (can't tell from this photo, and can't find any others) there's also Outrun 2019:

Well, I'm more than willing to part with it if I can get a good price for it. As I said before, I've got the game and box, but no manual. I don't even know if the manual that was included with this release is any different than the one that comes with the regular game. Can anyone confirm if it's any different?
Anyway, If anyone here wants the game and box, PM me with an offer.

I found a Jap MD game at GW about 6 months ago, so not so improbable.

This is the first time I hear of such a thing. Why would it be official and not be able to plug into an American system? It makes no sense. It sounds very neat, though. But the closest thing I've seen have been knock-off copies.

Because it's an Asian Megadrive game.

Yes - it's similar to why Japanese carts have "Mega Drive" written on them and won't fit into European systems, I suppose ;)

Why is sixwayshot's cart the real deal? Simple. It uses an ACTUAL North American Genesis label that doesn't properly fill the allotted space on the cartridge. A pirate cartridge will use a label doctored to correctly fit (like that pictured copy of Outrun 2019).

It shouldn't be any different.

To remove any and all doubts, could you please post some pics/scans of both sides of the box and the back of the cartridge?
--
As I recall, the Asian version only came in a plastic clamshell box while the North American version only came in a paperboard box. That could be an indicator of how genuine this copy is as well.

I'll get pics of the cart and box in detail in a few days. I don't have the cart near me right now and I won't for a few days.

Hey Connor, when I looked at it Chris had brought it out of the back, and there was no manual. Wish I had known this was worth something, else I would have bought it! :P

I'd like to see if the guy who traded the game to PnT in the first place has anything similar. Wonder how someone comes across something like that.

I got a Bare Knuckle cart at a pawn shop locally for like $2... These things can happen. Rare, but it happens. I've seen a few odd imports at PNT's locally, like PAL Quake 3 for DC for like $15. Friggin worthless though.
I found a boxed Asian copy of Mega Bomberman in a shop in Doncaster for £4. Don't know how much it's worth (I intend to keep it anyway, for now at least) but was nice. :)

Yep, it's the 100% real-deal since it has all of the following:
- Plastic clamshell box instead of paperboard.
- "For Sale And Use In Asia" marking on the back.
- misfitting Genesis label on a JP-type cartridge.
- "Sega" sticker on the mouth of the box.

You might have to sell on Ebay if you want decent money for it. Just notify the right places and remember that no matter what: you'll get more than what you paid!
