Ashen's review is a bit dated, and I have been reading a little bit (very little mind you) but there seems to be some development going on. I really want one of these, more so than this DS I've been trying to rebuild (nightmare), and it being open source is extremely appealing.
It doesn't overshadow the newest GP2X, but then again I would like to get both of them.

Yeah I have it. Got the black version (wish I got the white, fingerprints look terrible on black!) Paid £55 for it on ebay from a chinese seller.
Best thing you could do with it, is to get a MicroSD card for it and load Dingux on it. You can play more variety of emulators and PC ports of games than on the Official Firmware.
Is it good? Eh..To be honest, I haven't used it all that much. My enthusiasm on the thing wore off pretty quickly unfortunately.
I'm not all that thrilled on the Picodrive emulator on it, the one on PSPs far better. The Quake port on it still isn't finished although the Doom ports pretty good. No one has even ported OpenTTD for it yet (the people over the TTD forum never even heard of the Dingoo before!) Overall, not very much software developement for it. Then again this is all my opinion, maybe I should give it another chance to see how further software developement will go for it. Seeing as its so cheap, alot of people could potentially buy one which = more software developement for it. But I myself would wait for the Pandora. I can't comment on the Wiz as I never tried it, but I heard the GP2x is good.
You can give it a try, but don't spend TOO much for one. It doesn't even have a 2D or 3D chip in it, just a MIPS CPU overclockable to 430Mhz for everything it does! It does make a very good MP4/MP3 player though! :)
