No personal offense is intended if any of you types frequent this board - but I don't think there are any.
I have had it with Nintendo and Final Fantasy fanboys/girls. They go on and on and on with nauseating zeal about their latest games and systems without a single logical thought about the truth of the superlative and dorky statements they spew out. They get three pictures of Red Steel for the Revolution and guess what? The Rev. is now officially going to be the 'b3est console evar" and "totally pwnz teh sox" off of the PS3 and 360.
And then there are the FF people, who are just messed up. To them, no other games exist.
There's my rant. Not like it's anything new... Just a formal statement that I have joined the ranks of those who look down on your average Nintendo fan.

The main reason I hate Nintendo fanboys is ignorance, and keeping game prices high.
I remember this one fanboy when the Gamecube was new and half of his favorite games on the system where Dreamcast games (Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Crazy Taxi).
And I'm not paying up the arse for a copy of Yoshi's Island. The prices for a loose cart is nuts.

Fanboys eh? Can't live with 'em, can't post without 'em. School playground shit. They'll always be there. May I suggest you find a nice brick wall to bash your head against or smoke some fine stuff from Jamaica if it's really a problem.

Heh. I enjoy Final Fantasy. I like the characters and I do have my favourites.
Unfortunately, I had a first RP game love before Final Fantasy. That was Baldurs Gate and unfortunately, you can give me a true RPG and I will love it a million times more then final fantasy. Final Fantasy went down the drain with FFX and I am not ashamed to admit that now, it is terrible. Maybe they can redeem themselves with XII, but I doubt it.
As for Nintendo fanboys, it is just the same as the Xbox ones only worse. The problem the nintendo ones have (which has been said on this forum before) is they get very few 1st party games and Nintendo seem to drive away most third party games. In that way, they are kind of sealing thier own doom.

You can always spot one because they use the term 'Ninty'. That in it's self is child like.

Maybe the price is a reflection of how entertaining or unavailable said game is...? :D

I love Nintendo, in my opinion they're the only modern company that's still in the console market keeping the spirit of video games that I know and love alive. I wouldn't call myself a fanboy but I think blatant fanyboyism of anything is bad, I don't see why you choose to attack Nintendo since all three major companies have the same band of fanboy idiots bashing each other all over the Internet. The problem isn't with Nintendo it's with the video game industry on a whole.
It's a new generation of console wars, and back in the 16-bit era I used to vehemently defend the Genesis. It's really no different today. If you let the fanboyism get to you then you're letting the fanboys win because they're trying to piss you off and they're succeeding. Just chill and enjoy the video games and don't worry about what platfrom they're on.
FF Fanboyism I never really got, the latest games in the series haven't been on par with the older titles. They're just frowning and taking in whatever crap Square-Enix shells out just because it's named Final Fantasy.
But I'll personally take my stance now to make it clear, I'm hoping the Rev will be a success. X-Box 360 appeals to a more casual gaming demographic, Playstation 3's price tag and controversies aren't really exciting me. Nintendo proved to have some steam left with the DS and I want to what the Rev will be like. I'm not saying it's going to be "teh b3st sytem rox0rz!" and I'm actually expecting it to fall flat on its face because of all the strange things Nintendo is doing with it.
The one thing I hate the most about Nintendo however is their tendancy to release new versions of their hardware in rapid succession, specifically handhelds and specifically the Gameboy. I hope they rott in hell for the ammount of different Gameboys they released, that and the NES Classic GBA series. Most of the Nintendo fanboyism comes from nostalgia, and I can understand that I suppose. I was a rapid fan of the Dreamcast and I rode that sinking ship to the very end. Anyway, because Nintendo's been around for so long you've got retro-gamers who are elitist about their brand loyalty and that's where the worst fanboys come from.
The problem the nintendo ones have (which has been said on this forum before) is they get very few 1st party games and Nintendo seem to drive away most third party games. In that way, they are kind of sealing thier own doom.
That's Nintendo's biggest fault, and the reason why they've trailed behind everyone else in the last two generations. I don't see Revolution's weird hardware remedying this problem any time soon.
Anyway I hope this level headed opinion from a Nintendo fan can help you realize that not all of us are blind followers ;) .

Ignorance is hardly anything exclusive to the Nintendo fans. Nintendo was always more accessible, so it was bound to attract those less capable of thinking and acting on their own initiative.
What boggles me about FF/Square fanboys is how they regard their games higher than anything else ever made, when they rely very heavily on plot/music/presentation with very little actual game substance. This becomes laughably evident with 'games' such as the Xeno series. Overall the J-RPG genre has suffered from a pretty retarded (In the more literal sense) evolution.

I always get depressed trying to discuss a more open RPG that allows for customized character development like "Fallout" to J-RPG gamers. In every sense of the word J-RPG's have really evolved further and further away from what an actual RPG is.
A real roleplaying game is just that, you play the role of a character and develop them over the course of the game. I'm sorry but simply leveling up going through prescripted character development does not an RPG make. There's no roleplaying involved in Japanese roleplaying games and I always found that very ironic. The humble beginnings of RPG's, including the original Final Fantasy were aimed more towards tabletop games and true roleplaying, but that all seems forgotten now.
Granted I like some J-RPG's like Chrono Trigger and Skies of Arcadia but it's not real roleplaying, it's just called that.

Final Fantasy = The Madden of RPG's?
I dislike fanboys in general, but the FF one tick me off the most. There were RPGs before FF7 people! All FF7 did was essentially use CG cut scenes to masterfully tell the story; the rest of the game was thoroughly mediocre. Heck, it wasn't even the first to do the whole "kill a main character" thing.

The most revolutionary thing about FF7 were the 20-minute long summon sequences.

Nintendo is cool. Final Fantasy is a great (or at least decent) series of RPGs. I'm just sick of people acting like Nintendo is god and FF is the holy spirit.

Directing prejudice towards any one group of gamers is no better than blind loyalty for a given console. Honestly, it's not as if these eager supporters of the Revolution are any different than your typical Xbox360 or PS3 fanboy. Sure, the release of the Red Steel screenshots has encouraged an unprecedented wave of Revolution love, but it's also helped to silence the unwarranted hate from the other rival fanboy armies who mocked the Revolution for its "inferior specs." If you're intent on carrying resentment towards the average Nintendo fan over the shenanigans of this blossoming new wave of the console wars, spread that anger evenly over all three parties involved.

It's never going to stop. I was in the war of C64 Vs ZX Spectrum back in the early 80s. Before that it was Atari VCS Vs G7000 (Odysee I think it was in the USA). It seems that the more choice you have, the more of the *ahem* younger members latch on for some playground banter online. Doesn't bother me much because I'll buy & play what I like & choose places like this to get away from them for reasonable discussion.

A Nintendo fanboy once said to me "Well... that shows just how popular OutRun is" in a sarcastic tone of voice while looking at my site.
He then proceeded to mock my N-Gage, while HIS mobile was falling apart.
The camera on his phone snapped off LOL and a few months later he got a text from his phone service provider saying that his phone was one among few of phones that might be fire hazards.
LOL

I think both sucked.
I know I'm going against all nostalgic values when I say this...
But when you go back from todays games to re-play sk00l Daze and Dizzy you really do think "How did humans ever enjoy such awful crap?"

Most games haven't aged well, even games from the NES era. Going through the entire library of NES games you come to realize only a handful of them are any good and the majority are just garbage. Still, nostalgia can be a very blinding force. I still enjoy some games and TV shows today that I know are absolutely terrible.

Different thing. :) (see Editor War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Editor_war) on Wikipedia)
It boils down to a philosophical argument: simplicity and speed (vi) versus extensability and customizability (emacs). A UNIX/Linux thing.
