Before heading to Microsoft and Xbox Live Arcade, Scott Berfield was one of the driving forces behind some of the Genesis's best-known hits. Games like Eternal Champions, Joe Montana Sports Talk Football, and ToeJam & Earl all bear his mark. He recently spoke to Sega-16 (http://www.sega-16.com/2006/04/interview-scott-berfield/) and shed some light on some of what went on behind the scenes of these classic titles.

For some reason, it struck me as funny to hear him mention the Genesis' 'terrible graphics hardware'.

He seemed like a nice guy, but did his interview sound a little bitter to anyone else?

That was a fun interview to read. Not sure if he typed it or you (Melf) typed it, but a couple of things struck me as odd (yes, I am an anal prick):

his ideal animations included scratching inappropriately.
Ummm... does he mean idle animations

We ran into one great hiccough towards the end.
Coughing during the hiccups suck ass! When that happens I feel like I'm going to explode. I end up becoming VERY angry. Or at least I assume that's what a "hiccough" is.

I hope Scott isn't responsible for neutering the US version of Streets of Rage 3.

The project was finally dead on Genesis when all of our marketing support got pulled to put on Shaq-Fu

Oh, the irony!

He said he went to EA in 1993, so I doubt it.
