Hi, I'm trying to use a Konami Justifier on my Sega to play Lethal Enforcers. The gun isn't working right; when I shoot it, the screen flashes, but no shots register. Any idea what the problem could be? I'm playing it on the original sega console, not a nomad or 32x or anything. Was there a certain sega model that didn't work well with this gun? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

What kind of TV do you have? Light guns only work on CRT, standard definition televisions (except for a few special light guns, but the Justifier isn't one of those).

J factor has probably hit the nail on the head. If you don't have the right kind of TV, it'll register the firing but the gun itself won't be able to register for the game.

Is there a way to adjust the calibration of the gun in-game? I used to run into that problem all the time with my Dreamcast.

Moving this to tech aid. :)

I don't think any gun games offered calibration on the Genesis (not sure about the Menacer). The Super Scope 6 forced calibration. Even though the Superscope doesn't flash white when you pull the trigger since it works via infrared, it STILL won't work on HDTVs for some reason.

The Menacer doesn't offer calibration.

I have Lethal Enforcers on Sega CD and there is a calibration mode for the justifier. It is pretty useful actually.

Hate to dig this thread from the dead, but my Justifier has the same problem. I am on a VA1 Model 2 with a Model 2 SCD (not that it matters, but I love my baby!). I tried Lethal Enforcers 2 (cart), controller in second port and it recognized it no problem. Start button works, I can pause the game and do the calibration, but there is no aiming dot on screen at all.

When I fire, the screen goes white and then nothing. I don't lose any bullets from the revolver, so I assume the game thinks I am shooting off screen to reload. I first tried it on a 1080p HDTV, not knowing if it would work or not. Then I tried it on a CRT TV (circa 1995) and the same problem.

I am wondering if Justifiers have a common flaw?

Try turning up the brightness and/or contrast on your set. If the screen isn't intense enough light-wise, the hit doesn't register properly, and all you get is a flash. This is because the setup picks up that the trigger was pulled, and that the gun "fired", but it never received just where exactly the "hit" was in the game scene... kind of like when you point the gun away from the screen, and pull the trigger. The light gun for the Master System can be picky like this, so the Genesis one is likely the same way.

Rescue Mission gave me this problem last time I played it, and turning up the brightness/contrast a bit fixed it. Might work for you as well.

Hot damn, it worked! Thanks for the tip. I only had to turn up the brightness a little and it did the trick.

You're the man! Hopefully others with the same problem can just read this thread now :D
