I know that this ended but still, look what it went for. I almost shat my pants. I knew it was rare, and I don't know what it goes for used but, wow. That's all I have to say. lol

Scooter has a copy... I think it goes for $300-$500 used.

That's cool. Lucky him. :)

So the price the factory sealed one went for isn't too far off then.

I suppose. www.sega-parts.com used to say they had new copies... but they really didn't. I sent them an email asking if they did because it was too good to be true, and sure enough they responded back saying no, and the email was full of grammar and typos, and I think I still have it. I did buy some DC jump packs from them on ebay some time after that and they where an awesome seller.

I know a guy who had a bounty for this game, and his asking price and bounty wasn't far removed from my estimate of how much it goes for. I wanted it at aone point, but I don't care anymore about US Saturn, I have one manual, one box and manual and aroudn eight to ten more games and I will be content with my US Saturn hoarde.

Sega-Parts used to be cool, back when they had Saturn Bomberman sealed for $35 (this was back in 2002).

Come 2006, they still had them for that price, and it tended to go for $65 used on eBay. So I ordered 4 or 5 of them at that time to help pay for other games I wanted (not very admirable, I know). But this time, the cases were were not sealed, and I'm 99.9% positive they opened them on purpose. When I wrote back to them, asking how many they had left, they said there were 10. Since then, they've jacked the price up to $100 for a "brand new" copy (Probably partially my fault as well). I've no doubt that they were leftovers from way back when that didn't sell.

I myself, couldn't see paying an ungodly amount for that version of Daytona because, well, it's still Daytona USA. It definitely doesn't give me $500 worth of game play, unless I'm selling it to buy $500 worth of games. lol

I just got CCE(the uncool, non-netlink compatible edition) on ebay complete for $12.

I wanted the Netlink compatible version, but I couldn't justify selling the car and getting 2 months behind on all my bills just for the version that's compatible with a service that's been dead for 15 years.

Netlinks still work today. They work by actually calling each other, not by using the internet. So if you have a landline phone, and some free long distance you can still use NetLinks.

I'm not entirely sure how they work, but I think they work by sending serial data using sound waves. Kind of like how the phone sends sound.

Is this thing real, from what I have read the Netlink versions are suppose to have the same cover as the C.C.E. versions. the only way to tell the difference is by looking at a small logo located on the disc.

Has technology really advanced so far that there are some people who have no idea how dial-up modems work? O.o

Bootleg? I don't think so. That guy's feedback looked so good so I'm assuming the copy is legit.

It is strange how the booklet/cover was in black and white. Only the buyer will know for sure if its legit once they receive the item.

Any information you get from wikipedia is probably only 50% accurate.

Well, if you look at the black and white manual, the cover says that it is the Net Link supplement. The regular manual is probably in there too.

Well, I saw this post and thought I should reply. I do confirm that it is a legit copy (and yes it does have the other manual underneath it), and I also feel that it was worth every penny. It was such a wonderful feeling when it arrived in the mail; only to be surpassed a couple weeks later when DarXide arrived. An unsealed copy of the game also sold back in January for $700. I was the buyer for that until the guy decided to offer it to someone else at the same price. Lucky for me this gem showed up in its place. I hope this reassures from any doubt in the game.

Congrats on the CCE Special Edition and Darxide purchases. I've also been trying to track down these two games...prices have never been my friend though.

I don't suppose you could take a closeup pic of the front cover of the CCE Netlink booklet and CD so we can see what a legit one looks like? That would be a huge help.

Dang SpaceFlea, you sure do get around. :)

Good for you on getting it. One day, you're gonna have to open you're own museum or something.

This version definitely has a strong historical value, and is great for collectors. But it's practical value (for me that is) isn't too high, so I'm gonna steer clear of this pricey beast. :D

Edit: Also pretty cool how you managed to get every digit in the price to be a 1.

They work with magic and fairies, of course.

DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Are there any other differences other than the NetLink compatibility?

I hope to some day find this game. CCE is actually one of my favorite Saturn games, I would kill to own the special edition.

I'm glad Scooter flashed a picture of his because I wasn't about to open my copy to take a picture of the CD ;). The best I can do is peek in from the sides, but for all intents and purposes (and this goes for most sealed games) it is legitimate until its opened and shown otherwise (which just adds to the reason to never open it). I'm 99.9% confident though because of the sellers rating and from what I can see in the case.

I do get around on eBay. Every one of my friends knows that I have an addiction to that site and to my collection. It is so big that I literally have no room left in my apartment to store it and live. And that is with all of my games in boxes stacked floor to ceiling. I need a house so I can properly display them. Once I do I'll flash some pics, but I like to keep my collection mostly to myself; so a random pic here and there is fine for other collectors, but I won't let just anyone see it in person. It's my life, and it's too valuable to me to ever take that risk. I took a huge hit in funds though when I bought this, DarXide, and T-Mek all within about one month. But they are the crown jewels of my collection now.

You are correct that the practical value is nothing which is why I'm glad to have a sealed copy (I don't miss not being able to play it + it's value is greater = win win).

And the cool price of $1,111.11 was my max bid (I just thought I'd be silly with it being so rediculous anyhow ) which goes to show you my bid wasn't much more than the next highest bidder's since it hit my max rather than the standard proxy bump. In the end I was just lucky enough to out rediculous the next guy.
