View Full Version : Would you buy a new Genesis/MD cheats/hint/tips book?

So I was going through my old magazines and other console related books,
and I suddenly remembered how back then there were all these cheat and hint books,

So I was wondering.. wouldn't it be cool to have 1 new book filled with every Genesis/MD cheat/hint/tip known to man?
this would include Action Replay and Game-Genie codes.

Maybe even with pictures of some games, to get that oldskool look.

Kinda like this thing.

I'm not making anything nor do i know anything who's planning on making it,
I was just curious how others felt about this.

Personally I would love to have a nice thick book that has all these cheats and passwords in it,
It would feel more.. like the real thing instead of going to gamefaqs to look it up.

But I guess thats because i miss the old days.

I'd go for it if it was a coffee table sized hard back with full color photos.

At a reasonable price? sure.

I was actually going to make a cheat binder for all of the games I play with level select cheats, etc., but I could never find a cheat site that wouldn't print pages of garbage and ads without copy/pasting to word and editing it by hand, which would take forever.

I ALWAYS prefer printed cheat books and guides because I don't have my PC sitting right next to my Genesis, in fact it's in an entirely different room. I can't be bothered to walk through several parts of the house to reach my computer to dig up a guide or cheat, I'd rather just figure it out on my own at that point.

More specifically, I'd REALLY like a cheat book or guide covering late releases instead of the early ones. I don't own many early Genesis releases so the books I have right now are kind of useless. Not to mention a lot of them only cover a few levels instead of the entire game. How thick would this new Genesis cheat book be? How big are the pages? Color or B&W?

There are already five books in a series by Douglas Arnold and Zach Matson which cover most Genesis games and cheats.

Yep, I would definitely buy a book if it was released today, but preferably in "startegy guide" style rather than just cheats.

A single hard cover book in full color covering the 200~300 best MD games from all regions with screenshots -and maybe even some boxart- for each game... I'd definitely buy it!

Maybe something covering the rare stuff that was never written in magazines back then, and after-market products... There are lots of possible things to write in such a book :).

I too would love a hardcover one. I'd buy it. :D

No. I wouldn't, I have too much crap & old magazines to burn as it is. ;)
