View Full Version : Sealed Sega CD System - How Much is it Worth?

I'm wondering if anyone has an estimate on what a Sega CD (model 2) would be worth completely new and sealed in the box. The box is in pretty good condition, but the asking price makes it harder for me to bite (sorry I won't share the buying price).

What's more is that this Sega CD is a Korean version one. It is the first Sega CD I have ever found in Korea and only one other time have I even seen a Mega Drive that had a box, not to mention new. I'm sure this could be worth quite a bit, but I don't know if there would be enough demand for it to sell at a high price.

Any ideas? Thoughts?

Take this with a grain of salt, but probably something like £300 or more, or a little less. Model 1s will definitely go for more if new and sealed. Anyways, this is my UK currency, so you probably have to convert.

Is that with consideration of its Korean origin or not?

Its expensive but its an item I'll never see again. I've passed on other rare stuff because they were in some way not complete, but it doesn't get any better than this. Still any other opinions would be helpful.

I'd have said £300-£400 as well.

That couldn't have been a Korean one though. Anyways, I'm planning on picking it up today. I'll see what bargaining I can do.

Biggest reason against buying sealed in box anything is the very real threat of fraud. How do you know there is a Sega CD, Korean or otherwise, inside that box? I would not be shelling out major dollars for it unless I could see the console and controllers.

I have a Sega CD brand new, and they are not sealed... So you can see the thing inside in the baggies.

Well I guess sealed is an incorrect term. I do not think the box was ever sealed and I am able to look into the box and see that it is all new.

I did purchase it and will take pictures shortly. The box could be in better condition, but everything on the inside is pristine and very much new. Anyways I'll show pictures soon. Really exciting for me.
