Hey guys, just thought i'd toss this out there as a suggestion, spam away if this has been suggested in the past. I'm not necessarily reading every topic that is posted here.
There is a TON of great information on these boards, backed by a large group of knowledgeable contributors. I think that this website could benefit from having it's own "wiki" of sorts. Perhaps a member-customizable database of all Sega console hardware (and maybe even arcade hardware).
I can think of one thread (http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7796) just off the top of my head that has enough information to fill a Genesis wiki page by itself.
If you guys like this idea, i'd love to hear it, and maybe some suggestions of your own. I'd love to see the wheels start turning on this one.

I think this is a good idea, but a lot of heavy lifting for the mods for something that doesn't really improve much.
I say we take advantage of thread tagging. It's already there, we can agree to a list of common ones to pool content under, and have a sticked thread dedicated to sections containing search links.
It's a work-around that's doable right now.
Sure the content would be relatively static, but that prevents wiki abuse as well. The threads don't get purged here, why not utilize them?

What, everybody wants a wiki these days, and nobody wants a good old fashioned link farm?!
I THOUGHT THIS PLACE WAS RETRO! :p

Please don't link that juvenile shitstorm bi-product to Sega-16. I'll be forced to use images like this:

Nobody wants that. :|

I was also thinking of starting a Wiki for all of SEGA, but thinking at how hard it will be to add all the need information scares me.
I was thinking of a single login solution and only having members edit. I think this site could do that with a plugin? I mean, why allow anon editing? If you ban them they can just use a proxy or something. There is no real sense of punishment.

Glad to see some interest here!
As for the ability to edit, I think that only established members should have the ability to contribute to the Wiki. By established I mean by either a post count minimum or a membership minimum, or even a combination of the two. There definitely needs to be some "credentials" in order to edit the page, just to keep the moderation needs down.
If you'd like to see this happen, or any easily accessible knowledge database, feel free to toss the pixel banner in your sig!

If somebody makes a Sega-16 wiki I'd better get my own page.

Is the reason why that Sega16wiki is on .co.uk is because there are more Europeans here than Americans?
