Hello. There's a copy of HErwog Zwei in my area that I would be able to purchase. It's cart only though and it is a little bit costly - over £10. Since it's an RTS, not knowing the rules of how to utilise the interface of the game will be annoying unless I can find how to play somewhere on the internet.

Do you guys think it's a worthwhile purchase, even though it seems very costly?

It can be hard to find complete, but from your post I assume you'll be getting the cart only?

Anyway, I use to own this game, and there is alot of hype over it on the internet, but I've never jumped on the game's bandwagon. Below average graphics and audio, and confusing gameplay if you don't have the instruction manual, but that should be easy to find in text format on the net. Try gamefaqs.com, or genesiscollective.com.

I traded my copy away for a Turbo-Grafx 16 console and 2 games, but mine was in pristine condition. Just saying that it tends to be above average in collectability and a good pickup if it's complete.

I paid three dollars for a mint cart and box. No instructions but I am looking for them. Not a copy online. Yes, it is hard to find, and even harder to play loose. However, here is a .txt version of the instructions:

It isn't good enough for me. :P

Just keep looking and you'll luck out and find a cheap copy, just gotta be patient.

I've never been a big fan of the game, either (never really understood how to play), but below average graphics and audio? I think they exceed most other first-gen games.

I loved the game when it came out and it turns out it's possibly the first real time strategy game (which is where the hype comes from). I say it's worth getting.

Hmmm...

Thanks for the instructions everybody. I shall probably be picking it up tommorow. We'll just have to see if it isn't gone. I don't know how they would use the controller for it though, I always find using controllers for RTS games hard. A pity it isn't compatible with the mega mouse.

Instructions with pictures can really help you understand all of the in-game icons at a glance. You'll need to know what icon is for building soldiers, tanks, etc. As with all TechnoSoft games, the music is very, very good.

Personally I never liked this game. But then I like very few RTS games.

I liked it! Never any good at it, since it's a strategy game, but it didn't stop me.

A little like Starcraft, I guess.

I love this game. And the music is definitely awesome.

I bought it complete and in excellent condition for 6£.

Im not very pleased with the game. I tried playing it a few times, but its really a rather boring and slow game. Lack of related nostalgia makes me concider those 6£ a waste.

Its kept for collection reasons only.

Next you'll all be saying you don't like Lightening Force or something!

Yeah well maybe they don't. It may be hard to except, but then I don't understand why people don't like Phantasy Star 2. Or RPG's in general for that matter.

I bought it because I wanted to play it, but I later hated the game, so now I still own the game, but for collection reasons only too.

Oh yeah. WATCH ME!

Comparison of apples and oranges: they both suck. I prefer bananas.

I'd only get Herzog Zwei if you have somebody else to play it with. Multiplayer is a blast, single player is really nothing to write home about and it gets old fast.

It's pretty good as long as you play against a human opponent. Getting used to the interface and controls takes time though.
