I'm shocked that EA is treating Sony like that of all people. The PSP has an installed userbase of 60 million ok 17 million in the US would give a rat's ass about this game but still.

The problem is that 50% of that userbase hacks the system and uses it for emulation and free software.

I can't imagine NCAA Football being all that great on the PSP. I'd have a hard time playing it on the PS2 as well, after playing Madden on the 360.

You mean 2%. 50% is what the retarded spokespeople claim CAN be hacked, not what actually ARE hacked. "Piracy" on the PSP is no greater than any other platform. It's also only a concern to companies who KNOW their games are crap. Good games sell well even on systems with 100% "cracked" software.

Then maybe it's 50% of its userbase isn't buying software anymore.

You know there's something wrong, when the PSP section is almost smaller than the PS2 section at most retail outlets.

I see what you're saying since the PSP is the newer of the two... but considering I 'just' got into collecting for the PS2, this is advantageous for me. ;)

Dude, it's almost unheard of to get even 10% of the user base to buy a game on ANY platform! Even the most insanely popular game isn't going to sell 50%. That's why you try to make the user base as big as humanly possible... because most of the time you'll be lucky to get 1 or 2% to buy.

I'm talking about all the software, not just one title. I get the impression that a lot of people bought PSPs, because they looked cool, then never bought more than a title or 2 and tossed it in their closet.

The attachment rate of the DC was over 4 titles per console sold, while the 360 has somewhere around 8. It would be interesting to see what the attachment rate was between the PSP and the DS.

*Edit: Here (http://gamer.blorge.com/2008/04/27/xbox-360-leads-software-attach-rate-even-the-wii-beats-ps3/) are the numbers for 2008. I'd imagine they've dipped a bit, since the release of the PSP Go.

The Wii and NDS are mostly "shovelware" systems, so OF COURSE they'll have a high attach rate.

The thing about the PS3 and PSP is Sony sold them as multi-media devices, so many people bought them for that, not games. I'm sure many PS3 owners bought the PS3 strictly because it was the cheapest BluRay player available at the time, and have no intention of ever playing a game on it.

Same thing for the PSP - between music, video, browsing the web, and Skype, loads of people probably buy them without a thought for the games.

Exactly!

the psp is a failed video game platform, this move comes as no surprise.

NCAA football is typically among the first sports games ea pulls from a console when sales are on the decline

but the official SHTF moment will be if/when ea pulls madden
