View Full Version : A really odd and probably hard if not impossible question to answer.

Hey guys,
Being the all knowing god of sports information on our site, I know the majority of what there is to know about Sega Genesis sports gaming. However, I have one question. I know that Sports Talk Baseball was basically just an import of some Japanese Super League game, but I was wondering if the stadiums in that game are actually modeled after Japanese stadiums, or if they were just simply created stadiums for the game.
I can't find any info on the internet, so some of you import guys might be able to answer this. Thanks!

I have never played any of these games but I'd imagine that they just created their own stadiums for the game.
- Are there any hints that these could indeed be real stadiums ? (i.e. does Super League feature anything else that is real?)
Edit: I thought Super League was released as Tommy Lasorda Baseball in the US?

I would imagine the stadiums are fake.

That's what I thought.
And STB was Pro Yakyuu Super League '91, according to wikipedia.
Though, the dome looks like the Tokyo Dome. I'm in that 24-7 sports talk baseball mode lol.

Pro Yakyuu Super League '91. That definitely isn't Super League which was released in early 1989, so scratch my previous reply off the list.
PREMISE: Sega's original in-house baseball game especially coded
to promote sales of the then-new Genesis/MegaDrive.
Features the top lineups and players for the Central
League as of the date of coding. "Central League?" you
ask. In case you didn't know, professional baseball is
currently split into three major leagues - the National
and American, both in the United States; and the Central,
based in Japan. Each has their own unique variations on
the standard rules of the game.
IMPRESSIONS: Older pro baseball sims with a bit of a cartoonish look
to them now - that's after looking though dozens of
latter and superior titles. Not bad, but why bother
unless you're really into the Central League?
VARIATIONS: The Mega CD version features a celebrity endorsement by
Central League player Egawa Sugoru. It is possible,
although not yet proven, that his mug may appear on the
Super League game released as Tommy Lasorda Baseball.
More information would be appreciated.
Super League Baseball (1989, released to the Amercian
market in a YACEG English translation as Tommy Lasorda
Baseball)
Super League Baseball 91 (1990, Japanese release only,
new team rosters and a somewhat improved game engine)
Sports Talk Baseball (1992, practically the same as Super
League 91 but in English and with American MLB teams)
There apparently was a Japanese version of Sports Talk
Baseball released for the Mega CD; see appropriate entry
for details.
If the Japanese games featured an official license, it'd very likely that they also included the original stadiums.
EDIT: although, "Moon City Stadium", "Red Sun Stadium", "Nippon Dome"... ?! - I guess they were inspired by real stadiums but that's about it ?

"Nippon Dome" = Seibu Dome
"Red Sun Stadium" = Hanshin Koshien Stadium
"Moon City Stadium" = Yokohoma Stadium

Thank you very much!
The Red Sun stadium is the only one worth playing in if you like home runs, the other two are hit or miss, and the moon city one is good if you like doubling teams to death.

So did Pro Yakkyu have Sports Talk in it?

No, it used music themed from various crowd noises in place of a color-commentator.

Download the soundtrack off of Project 2612. That's what they used instead of commentary.
