View Full Version : The Official Wrestling Thread (WWE, TNA, etc)
I'm watching Smackdown! and things are picking up from a few months ago. It's actually bearable now. Of course, with the loss of almost 20 wrestlers (we do get a new diva though!), it's mostly the same old guys on TV.
Anyone know if/when TNA will get a TV deal? We need some competition, badly.

I remember reading that Spike TV may end up getting TNA programming, but those are nothing but rumours. When the corporate bigwigs settle on some distribution deal, I'm pretty sure they'll be vocal about it. The world of pro wrestling could use a bit of innovation..

I'll start watching wrestling when they start doing it properly. You know, nude and oiled up.
Well, it looks like TNA will be coming to Spike TV this fall. Finally, something other than WWE to watch!

WWE SmackDown RULES!!!!
Rey Mysterio is the best person in Smackdown!
but,
John Cena is the best RAW member

When is Ric Flair and Triple H coming back? They are practically the only reason I still watch Raw. Wrestling needs some major over hauling. It's to stale.

I don't understand how you can like HHH. Other than the fact that he is the most basic heel ever created, he has no talent. He isn't dynamic. He can't make a jump to a face. He is just difficult to get in to... and the writers make his title lengths unbearable.

I like HHH because his sole pupose is to get the belt. He is like a classic old school wrestler to me. And I just love when he gets a mean streak and beats the hell out of someone for making him mad. I think he lives, breaths and sleeps wrestling. Just like Ric Flair did(does).

Dude
I hate both HHH and Ric Flair!!!!
Batista and RKO are the resons why HHH became so good. Randy Orton would kick HHH's @$$.
Ok, time for some Summer Slam impressions!
WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW!!
- Chris Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan: Too fast! I know CB had it in for Orlando, but the whole match took less than two minutes-literally. I really wanted to see these two go at it, as OJ is an outstanding athlete who deserved to shine on a stage as big as SS.
- Kurt Angle vs. Eugene: Another squash. Did we really need to see this at Summer Slam? It was more like a glorified Smackdown! match at best.
- Eddie vs. Rey: Great match ending a horrible storyline (custody papers in a briefcase over the ring? C'mon!). They took some mad bumps, and put on a hell of a show.
- Randy Orton vs. Undertaker: Score one for the Legend Killer! Bob Orton's run-in was kind of lame, but overall it was a solid match.
- John Cena vs. Jericho: Good, solid match, but I wanted Jericho to win. He's been underappreciated for far too long.
- JBL vs. Batista: Great match, and the way Batista finished him off was sickening. Dave's still a bit green in the ring, but he's getting better every day.
- Hogan vs. HBK: Better than I expected. Everyone knows Michaels can put on a show like none other, but I was worried about Hogan keeping up. He's never really been a really technical wrestler or anything, and does not high flying moves, so I wondered how he'd work it. His cut was nasty, and he did a great job at putting on a decent match. HBK's handshake at the end was classy and hopefully means he's a face again (he's better at that now).

HHH had already won the belt like 6 times before Batista and Orton were even wrestling. HHH and Flair took them under their wings and molded them into champions. Not the other way around. But HHH did use them to help him keep his belt. That is why he is such a good bad guy. I love the heels

I haven't watched wrestling since the end of WCW, and even then I was only slightly interested. I'm of the guard that enjoyed wrestling for it's absurdly cartoonish nature back in the 80s/90s. These days wrestling is to "mature" for me.
I forgot to mention Matt Hardy/Edge. After thinking about it, I know why I blocked it out. It wasn't a match at all, and Matt got his ass handed to him in so many ways it's not even funny. Edge just delivered a beat-down and made him look like a chump.
What's even funnier is that last night on Raw, MH got his ass whupped again! LOl.

What do you guys think of RAW since it switched to USA? I think they are trying really hard to improve the show but are still coming up short. I do like the Flair and HHH grudge though. Whoooooooo!
Flair will always be the man, and I like the idea of a Flair/HHH feud, but they haven't built it up enough. Unless it's a match at Wrestlemania, I don't think it will go over as well as it should.
Oh, and Kurt Angle should win the WWE title. The man is a machine.

I was thinking that matches between HHH and Ric Flair (like at Taboo Tuesday and a possible Survivor Series encounter) could lead to a huge blow off match at Wrestlemania. I don't know if this fued will maintain it's steam until then, though. Maybe if they keep wrestling in gimmick matches like a steel cage and lead up to a pin fall match at Wrestlemania... You know, just to see who the man really is. I don't know. As a fan of both, it'll be a lot of fun to watch regardless.
By the way, has anyone gone to www.com to vote on Taboo Tuesday? Vote for Dude Love!
Looks like Nash may be finished after his heart scare this past weekend. No big loss, I say. It'll be interesting to see how the TNA 2 hour special comes off, though I can't fathom sitting through the whole thing with that horrible commentary. God I hate those guys.

Is it still Don West and Mike Tenay on commentary? I can handle Tenay mainly for the man's knowledge but I haven't really heard him since WCW fell. Oh well, At least those guys won't be participating in a match like the Coach! Ha! I guess a SCSA match will be cool to see but it is against the Coach... I think a street fight would be the best way to go with those two. Maybe with Coach calling someone out to help him, I suppose. I just don't see Coach as a credible threat to Austin and I find it all pretty unbelievable.
I haven't had a chance to watch TNA since they've been on Spike TV. Was Nash going to be part of the special or something? I'm not going to make a joke about a heart problem but that guy just finds ways to get hurt without actually wrestling!
Sorry, I'm a huge fan of this stuff!

No Way! I voted for Cactus Jack. I like hardcore :D
And I voted for Flair and HHH in a Steel Cage. Do you guys have Flair's DVD? I loved the cage match between him and Harley Race. HHH kind of reminds me of Harley Race. They are both really tough guys. I don't mean in character but in real life.
Nash was supposed to face Jarrett for the title at Bound For Glory. Rhino ended up with it.
Eddie Guerrero passed away this week. RAW put on one hell of a tribute for him, and both locker rooms showed up for it.
R.I.P. Eddie. You will be missed.

I wasn't able to catch Raw this week but I have been to wwe.com to watch the testimonial videos and tribute videos. Pretty moving stuff. Eddie was one of my favorites and I'll miss seeing him wrestle.
I can't wait to see what Smackdown! has planned as a tribute. Eddie truly was one of the greats. :(

I have never been much of an Eddie fan. But I haven't been able to watch smackdown the last couple years do to my cable company not offering upn. But I hear he really developed alot over on smackdown. So many nice things were said about him by the other wrestlers that he must be a hell of a good man. R.I.P. bra.

I was a huge Wrestling-fan from 1992 ´till 2000. But since WCW is dead, it has all gone down the drain. I kind of don´t like the younger wrestlers and their gimmicks. When it began to be the same in every show (half an hour of interview with Vince McMahon and someone who usually wanted a title shot in the beginning, almost no DQ when all 4 Tag Team wrestlers were in the ring at the same time etc) I lost interest.
Everything´s on Pay TV in Germany nowadays except 1 hour of Smackdown! at midnight. Back in the days we had 2 - 4 hours and the 5 big events on free TV...
Now wrestling pretty much dead in Germany.

Sorry to bring back an old topic, but I am quite looking forward to Unforgiven.
TLC and HIAC, cool. Best line up in a long while. Rumour has it that X-Pac might show up. Then you go fetch Nash (I think he might be done at TNA) and have him and Hunter patch things up and be a comedy act. Hey, find Scott Hall somewhere and you have a full clique DX.
I also managed to isolate when Smackdown was designated the b-show, about early 2004 with Benoit going to Raw (he should come back after his injury and go for the World title) and Lesnar leaving.
I still like it though, Finlay + little bastard = excellence.
I recommend checking out the Kevin Nash interviews with Alex Shelley posted by TNA on youtube. That is some funny stuff.

Heh heh...yep, go pull Scott Hall away from his tequila-bottle-with-a-nipple-on-it, and put him back in the ring. Heck, let him take the bottle with him. ;)
I've got tickets to go see ECW next week...I'm hoping it'll be a good show. I've always wanted to see RVD and Tommy Dreamer live, and now I get to see those two as well as CM Punk. Rock on, ECW! :D
