Rocket Knight Adventures. There simply aren't enough bosses in the game. Can you believe that some enemies aren't even bosses? RIDICULOUS! There should be at least 10 bosses fighting you at once, and each needs 100 hits at full strength to destroy with you only allowed to have one heart of health. Also this game doesn't set you back far enough when you die. They actually give you a chance which is almost fair, and that is pure BS. They should give you one life and if you die it saves a special file to the game and won't let you power it back up for at least 2 weeks. Actually screw that, if you die it should send you back in time 10 years before the game is released. Only then will it send you back far enough after you die.

@Mr smith,no seriously not it lacks colors while the colors does look bright not many animations or slick animations the levels look pretty dull lets start then.level 1 chains that animate funny thats pretty fun but outside the fabrik you get those ugly looking clouds tht move and changing colors in the background and the harbor looks crap level 1,2 sunrise yeah thats a progress that one is nice no complaints, level 2 the streets okay not very fun if every building is the same and the bosses are dull, level 3 lift boring just ugly the backgrounds(City) is fun but could at least have bit animations, level 5 ninja score okay 5,1 train sattion ahhw this blows the enitre game the F...cking subway stage, the rest is okay, the F..cking subway stage and soem other stages let this game blow a bit, many songs are crap and some pushed to genesis its limits.

whos ass ness hell yeah but still it isnt the greatest i prefer gamegear.

Gamegear = ewwwww. It had a screen that is super small, barely lit, and you had to hold it at a certain angle to see it or the colors got all screwed up (just like the crappy Nomad screen). The resolution was less than the SMS but at least it had stereo.

it had backlite just as old lcd tv,s when you trust the thing the colours go al monochrome yeah but sonic triple trouble looked awesome and many gamegear games beat mastersystem graphic wise hel sure, coca cola kid shinobi aleste 2 and many more, I dislike mastersystem a bit because i have theRF connection and it looks blurred etc but then again the master converter 2 is good enough, I have to play more gg mastersystem to get into the difference but i can say sega was and still is ahead of its time GG was the first true color system,Atari lynx errrm don’t make me laugh how ugly whos want to buy my lynx(Blech batman returns dirty larry blech)if that is true 16 bit power then the snes runs at a speed of 20 mhz constant.

I agree the sounds and colours are poor, but I think they designed some very nice interactive levels and you cannot fault the variety of them. In Streets of Rage 2 nothing much happened except the non-stop fighting. With Streets of Rage 3 every level had something that little bit different in (except the first stage which was just constant fighting).

11-14-2006, 05:24 PM
:o Streets of Rage 3 has the best level design out of the lot.
I have also realised that the topic title says Genesis game, obviously I have been listing Mega Drive games, however, if anybody's interested, and I'm sure they're not, the last Genesis game I played was NHL '97 as it's one of the few genesis titles in my collection.
No way, Streets of Rage 2 has much nicer and much more entertaining level design. It also remains consistant throughout. With SoR3, you get some very nice levels at the start of the game but then it kind of looses focus when you get to that train station ninja level where you have to keep going inside these little cubicles to avoid the train thing - or whatever the hell those things are supposed to be.
Genesis/MegaDrive, same thing, same console just different region, one playing at 50Hz the other 60Hz. Actually, thread starters should think about European Sega fans also as there are many European users on this forum from the UK, Sweden, Germany etc. Maybe they should think about adding 'MegaDrive/Genesis' to their threads instead of just Genesis all the time...

I'll enter this debate: I agree with Mr Smith on this one; SOR3 had the best leve design and looks visually. It was the most powerful cartridge on the Genesis, was it not?
I loved the variety of the bosses too. Bare Knuckle III is where it is at though!
yip yip, the grunting sound of Axel was better as well, but i remember after playing BK3 to death I felt SOR3 was a disapointment, I don't know why..maybe because the trans was missing.

Everyone has their own opininon I suppose, it seems crazy that some preferred SoR 3's level design though, oh well.
I mean, both are great games, both have good level design, just in my opinion SoR 2 ranks a little higher when it comes to the levels.

Hah. The very first time I managed to legitimately finish the game with all seven Emeralds, I fell into that trap in MCZ with the spikes at the bottom. Fifty seconds of waiting to die :(
I've been playing Stargate. I don't remember much of the film, so I can't comment on the plot, but it feels ... wierd. You control KURT RUSSELL (KURT RUSSELL) similarly to the Mega-CD Terminator game. Problem is, it feels a lot clunkier - it's very hard to shoot diagonally downwards while standing, for example. Couple this with enemies that are knee-height and it can get frustrating easily. Everything's very smoothly animated, though.
I don't know what to make of it so far, to be honest. It reeks of cash-in 'left-to-right shootemup platformer' title - like Aladdin, only less Disney - but I get the feeling I'm missing something.
