I sure as hell don't want to go through the hassle of getting one of these, so I found some alternate ways of opening up a Genesis cart.

Hack up a screwdriver:

Frome Steve Snake, on the SMSpower forums:

Here's a tip for you, that may sound silly, but it works - as I proved recently to a disbeliever, by using this exact technique to crack open his GameCube ;)

Take a standard BIC biro, and remove the tip/ink part, leaving you with just the shell. Now heat the end where the tip used to be for a few seconds over a gas flame, so that it starts to melt (goes soft). Now, ram that end onto a screw and hold it very steady for about 10 seconds.

Hey presto, instant screwdriver

Or... narrow-nosed pliers as mentioned somewhere on the site, I've done this, and I can tell you that it is a bitch. If you are really desprate and don't have anything to work with, then give this a shot.

I tried the biro method. My Mega Games 1 cart now has a thin layer of burnt plastic gumming up the screws. >:[

instead of using the alternative you can get these darn things for very cheap. i would not spend more than 5.00USD for them tho. Here is the cheapest price I found with the highest quality bits on the markets. i mean these bits will last for a long time. i had one of those other before i bought this one and this one has been with me for a long time. any who here is the web site. i hope you guys find it useful - they have 3.8mm and 4.5mm.

I always used The Electric Quarter for gamebits, as the seller offers discounts on bundles of both gamebit types. eBay store (http://stores.ebay.com/The-Electric-Quarter), Main website (http://www.electricquarter.com)
