...and how would you compare it to SMS Space Harrier? I'm very curious as to how well they play. Thanks in advance.
WELLL... according to the videogamecritic.net
Space Harrier on the SMS blows, the sequel on the genesis is ok.
There's a review for space harrier 2 I think around here somewhere ...

The scaling isn't too good, but the gameplay is great.
Whoever said Space Harrier on SMS blows has no taste and deserves to be shot.
well, its the only review I found for it.
I wish there were better SMS and Saturn review places, but eh, i'll stick to supporting my genny.

Hear, hear. Space Harrier on MS rocks and actually has some things the arcade didn't. Great game for the time and the technology.
Part II rocks. I find it a bit too easy, but it' great nonetheless.
I just quoted the ratings, don't shoot meeeeee....
I would definatley be interested in trying the 3d glasses one. that'd be pretty damn cool.

Space Harrier on the SMS is an excellent conversion, considering it's downgraded from a 32-bit arcade game to an 8-bit console. It even kept some of the digitised speech, something very few SMS games had. Sadly, it's also the kind of game you need the arcade stick to play with properly, the SMS' square D-pad dowsn't do it justice.
As for Space Harrier II - it's essentially Space Harrier I with new bosses and a 'redesigned' Harrier. It's a pretty fun (and hard) game, though.

Space Harrier 3D was interesting, but the controlls were a little unresponsive for me.
Plus by this time I was used to the arcade version emulated in Shenmue.
It's supposedly going to be included with the Sega Ages release of SpH2. So you can try it then

Get the 32X version of Space Harrier. Like Afterburner Complete, its 99.9% arcade perfect.
