What's this? Can this truly be my Genesis at work, without expansion carts or add-ons? Indeed it is! Zyrinx's Red Zone is a graphical tour de force that plays as well as it looks. If you haven't tried it already, read our full review (http://www.sega-16.com/2006/05/red-zone/) and see what your next purchase must be.

Good review.

Unfortunately, Red Zone is so damn scarce.

no not really here in europe youlle have it for 9 euro. This game made a laugh at nintendos mode 7 skills, come on castel vania 4,f zero actraiser like a band you see it scrolling but everything like building scrolling with it like pasted on the band like in some shooting game.this is more like playsation to say ik figurly.it looks F...cking awsome on par with the likes like vectorman and batman and robin, dunno if it uses more then 64 colors i think not.

I honestly never even heard of this game until now but it looks similar to Sub Terrania which I love (Well same developers and all that) so I'll look into this.

I didn't like the helicopter parts very much, they're lightyears away from the Strike games.

It's a decent game, but hopefully I'll find it pretty cheap. I don't think it's THAT scarce.

This morning I was dreaming about SNES games for some crazy reason and this game was in my dreams. Why I will never know.

Was it blowing any of them up? :p

This game is extremely hard and I did not get far in the game without cheats. The game is a chore to play because of the difficulty of the game, but it looks very good. It controls pretty well too. I would give the game a 6.

A shame my friend's copy got stolen when we were kids, this could fetch quite a bit nowadays. A fantastic game, though, and the biggest example to use whenever someone tries to argue how much superior the SNES is.

Haha.. that's actually kind of neat. Zyrinx must have been rather proud of that little ship.. or just lazy.

its a great game, and yess this game comes around when needed, but ill just start playing vectorman till the end to show how its been done,il sum up alle the problem when starts to gett over vectorman, those from him are just excuses for the lame processing snes had oooh my hell god nooo not street fighter alpha with its tripled bypass, dammn.Donkey kong lets make a picture oooh no already been done.Killer instinct i prefer a lookbox above it.Mario world 2,see gunstar for the further info.spriggen, ranger x.actually idd think that snes games are ,ore unrealistick trying to be graphics while genesis trying to look a bit more realistic for the coolness.Sonic 1 vs mario.Strafox, panorama cotton enought counters so thats no complain.Ive read a site yess they compare Amiga vs genesis, those idiots amiga even surpases snes in graphics its a pc based thing and comedore is a pc based company,md and snes where made on superior pc,s so yup they where the.but in value it lack more then those two,its more pc based.TF 4 vs any amiga game bring it on vectorman vs any.Batman ahd robin, dont need to sum up my love for the gen, already did.

Oviously" it was sub terania who beated the core of the nice orchestrials on md great game 3 ueros of Yoy,BTW those pictures have more then 64 colors toy story has it way more then 64 in the pictures,Ayton senna monaco gp,so yess could be doen for the state of that discussion.Zyrinx mad subterania to didnt they its a great company bit unfamiliar but focused on the hardware capabilitys og genesis and pushed probably without noticing.

Isn't that the sub terrania font on the title? that's kind of lazy. I always thought these chopper games were way too slow and cumbersome to bother with, and this one isn't different.

Holy shit man, I haven't uploaded any sound tracks THIS long from the same game since Adventures of Batman & Robin for Genesis. When I was uploading the ost of vortex for snes. I was blown away that one of the tracks was 11 mins long. Yet Red Zone was TWO tracks that are over 20 mins long!

Anyways, the tracks are fun to listening too, seeing how the composer was non other than The Great Jesper Kyd!

ENJOY!

Hells yeah I remember that track. I used to jam to the OST when I was writing the FAQ for it. Just checked my hitcount for that FAQ - nobody plays this game, a crying shame.

I've always been partial to "The Habam"...

As for the game, I've always enjoyed it. Brutally hard (but beatable... I've done it several times without cheats), cool music, wild visual effects, and controls that remind me a lot of an overhead version of the "Strike" series (the helicopter feels the same to me). It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's a unique game that I'm glad I picked up way back when from on old rental store that was clearing out their Genesis games; a store that only put their stickers on the back of the carts where they'd do no damage.

This is an awesome game. I prefer it to the Strike games even though they are fun, too. Red Zone has great music and sound effects; definitely a game to "turn it up" when you are playing it! My only complaint with the game are the ground missions, which are only average compared to the awesome helicopter battles.
