Outside of a converter cart, the only way I know of to play Mega CD games on a Sega CD is by burning a copy of the game and playing that. There are a few import games I'd like to get, but haven't really investigated all that's available. Anyone here have any imports?

I've got Shadowrun, that's it.

That country converter program over at SX works superbly!

I'll have to try that out, as soon as I get my grubby little hands on an import. :(

There was a series of devices made by Datel called the Pro-CDX (yes, CDX...) that disabled the Mega-CD and Sega-CD region locks.

Problem is, though, not only are they incredibly hard to find (£100+ on eBay), but there're numerous revisions. For example, one works for the Model I CD console only, whilst another works for model II CD console, another for both... It's tricky getting them to work.

The problem with importing titles for the CD system even thru CD-R backups is the 50/60Hz difference between PAL and NTSC. The timing of FMV games like Night Trap, Tomcat Alley etc. require this frequency to synchronise the video to the sound. Other games like Sonic CD aren't as reliant on this - the most you'll get are a few scrambled bits of audio as the machine catches up with the system's frequency. You know, with you Yanks' systems running 20% faster than ours. =P

I recall third party "PAL converters" for use with European games; I'm not sure if the reverse ever existed.

I've got more than I can mention on CD-R. Most are unimpressive.

I activly seek these ISO's out, because I like to catalouge what exists. So for spending some valuable time, I got around a good fifth of the Japanese Mega CD games, but in ISO form. :(

Now I won't tell you where I got these or how to get them. I will tell you some favors where called in to get these, and A fedex guy missed a day of work and the rest I can not go in to due to legal reasons.

I only have Dennin Aleste for the Mega CD, the rest are US Sega CD games.

Tell me JP Road Avenger owners, is the intro different than the US version (the song I mean)?

The song was written and performed by Japanese people (performed by J Walk and written by King Ravioli or something like that), so I doubt it. I know all of the audio and music was redone from the arcade by Motoi Sakuraba with the exception of the tune that plays as the garage opens before the opening sequence. The arcade has pathetic music that doesn't do much to get you into the game. The arcade also is barely in stereo.

If you're simply seeking .ISO files of Mega CD games, I know there is a torrent weighing in at about 2.15 gig that I am currently working on, myself.

In the mean time, there's always eBay and pawn shops.

Sometimes you can find a lot of great stuff at pawn shops....

When I said ISO's, I meant the game, Bin/Cue, etc etc...

This is for Japanese games.
