If you have a NES or SNES, you can use teh power brick from them. or just go down to the local Flea market and look around. thats where I tend to finf most of my stuff.

The SNES AC adaptor won't fit into the Genesis as the tip is shaped differently. While using AC adaptors from ther systems may indeed power the system on and work, it is best to get one as close to the ratings of the original as possible. You don't want to eventualy fry your Genesis, do you? I think The Genesis 1 requires 7.5VDC out. I can't remember about the amps and all that. I am too lazy to walk downstairs and look.
