Isn't this just amazing? The next generation is here! Welcome to the HD era!

Look how advanced Playstation 3 is. Xbox 360 would never be able to handle such extreme levels of graphical complexity. $600 is such a steal when you get amazingly superior graphics like this.

I think those are just renders, not in-game shots.

If the renders are THAT bad, just image what the game will actually look like!

That is perhaps too amazing! It looks more real than reality itself. I like how shiny and angular his skin is... JUST LIKE REAL LIFE. The future is now. PS3 offers a whole new level.

Seriously, if the game ends up looking anything like that bottom picture, Namco really sucks ass. If other games on the system look similar, then I guess the PS3 would be what ends up sucking ass. There cannot be any argument to this.

That last pic looks like it's from this generation.

If they are actual game engine pics they're absolutely useless anyway. When you've got 2 full characters & a load of scenery on the go in the game there's no point having that degree of detail anyway. Nice tech demo if it is but rather pointless for any game where you need a bit more than a massive head on the screen to play it properly.

Haven't you heard? The first image was from Virtual Staring Contest 2008. After the lead developer had a bad case of falling off a cliff, the remaining design team members took their UltraBlink engine and formed Tekken 6 instead.

Anyway, even the character looks bemused: it's like he's saying 'it's come to this?' Look at his expression in the second pic, for Christ's sake. Even in the first pic, his skin and hair look really really greasy. Ugh. The future of gaming isn't pretty, folks.

What, you mean your skin DOESN'T shine like that when subjected to any light source? O_O Maybe I'm from another planet...

:p Seriously though, this generation coming isn't impressing me, not really. It's not a large enough step for me to be impessed.

It will only get better.

Hope fully there will be a crab boss at the end of the game instead of Heihachis dad........

I agree, the top image is very impressive. The bottom one is VERY poor.

I am ONLY impressed if the top screen is actually in game game play, otherwise i must agree that the bottom screen is very ho-hum. Hardly above an x-box.

It is true to say that it may take a while for the artists to take advantage of the increased texture abilities and such, and eventually churn out games close to the top screen. But until that time occurs, maybe a year ot two from now, i will just wait. The machines should be cheaper, the programmers will have a better handle on it, etc.

The top screen looks like a render and doesn't look anything like the bottom screen which I think has crappier graphics than the new Virtual Fighter, at least in my opinion. I don't see what makes it any more spectacular than the others.

I agree with this statement 100%!

If that bottom shot is a genuine in-game capture... how disappointing. I'm not sure what exactly I'm expecting of the PS3's graphical capabilities, but it's certainly more than that. As much as I scoff at Sony's arrogant asshatery as of late, I would honestly like to be blown away by some genuinely awe-inspiring "next gen" graphics.

How about the wii graphics :D

well... good news is wii's is supposed to be as good as Xbox360 graphics (suprisingly better than I thought :D ) but unfortunatley, PS3 is as good as it's gonna get :( . BTW the Wii's graphics I think (and many others) were only at the gamecube level, so it's supposed to get better.

maybe the PS3 did the same as the wii: the graphics are going to get much better

but if the 1st pic is the true graphics or even a little low, I'm satisfied (if the 2nd pic is actually the graphics... well boy those stink! )
