View Full Version : Lost in Translation: Surging Aura
Today we begin a new feature series that takes a look at the various fan translation projects that remain uncompleted. First up is one of the most wanted: Sega's Surging Aura, a great RPG with all sorts of great things going for it...except its massive amount of Japanese text. Why has this potential classic never been localized? Why hasn't anyone jumped all over the chance to translate it? Why are you still on the main page? Click on the link (http://www.sega-16.com/2006/06/lost-in-translation-surging-aura/) and read our first installment of Lost in Translation!

I really hope some more of these RPGS get translated. It seems like the Snes has more had more RPG translations than the genesis. Is the genesis harder to hack or something?

Probably just fewer fanatical, RPG-obsessed homebrewers among the Genesis community, that's all. Plus, were Surging Aura a Japanese-only Square release, the kind that frequent the SNES library, it would have been translated years ago.
The game looks pretty cool.. it's one I've never read too much into, but certainly seems worthy of a thorough fan translation. That is some absolutely huge English text..

I would like to let all people know that I had found someone who was supposedly going to translate SA for me. I sent him Eidolens tools and the link to the site but never heard anything about it. Who knows maybe one day it'll be dropped in our laps:D In other lost in translation news I feel that Vixen 357 deserves a translation as well. That game is sweet fun!

Steve Snake really gets around, doesn't he? What is he doing nowadays, anyway? Not making Sega Smash Packs, obviously.

;) Hi I two question how you get the Surging Aura patch at Eidolon's Inn I could not find it.? My second question is about get ISP patch files working I tried a few from translation sited and color hacking project, I went to Zophar's Domain and tried several patch tools including one old dos based one called SegaTool I could not get any of them to work. The only patch I been able to get working is King Colossus. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for your time!
Jason
The Surging Aura patch was only partially completed that I know of, so it won't really work. There's never been a completed version done, so there's still no way to play it in English.
I don't know about the other one, so sorry I can't help you there.

I just donīt understand why there is nobody willing to translate Genesis-RPGs such as Surging Aura!!!
If I had the chance to take part in such a project, I would gladly do it, and I am sure there are plenty of other fans out there who think the same.
The problem is most of us fans donīt speak japanese...and if they do, handling those program-tools needed to extract/insert text is where most people fail!
If only the really dedicated Genesis-fans with the required abilities would find each other and form a translation group, it could be done...
Funny that we have so few Sega-fan-translations while SNES players have the choice between various translations for a single game!
Letīs hope that maybe here at the Sega-16 forums some people get inspired to work together and pick up work...
PS:Is there a full translation for Langrisser Hikari 2 available???:(
