I just picked up a Nomad for cheap at a garage sale, but it didn't come with a video cable or an AC adapter. Could anyone tell me the voltage, current, and polarity for it?
Also, I noticed with a few of my games (NHL '94, Eternal Champions, Lightening Force) that the control pad appears to be stuck pushing up. It's only in the menus on NHL and EC, but on Lightening Force, it's fine on the menu, but stuck in-game. I found that plugging in a 6-button controller to the 2nd player port seems to fix it.
Is this a common issue? Is it only with certain games or is it a hardware issue?

Try holding the MODE button when you power up the system for games that exhibit funky controls. You only need to hold it while turning the system on.

I am 99% sure the nomad used the Genesis 2 AC adaptor.

That's what I thought too, but I wanted to be sure. Too bad I only have a model 1 Genesis.
I tried holding the mode button as I powered on with Eternal Champions, but it behaved the same way. I'll have to do some more thorough testing.

I've noticed the sorts of problems you're experiencing with the stuck D-Pad on my Genesis controllers that are just worn out. It's possible that the D-Pad in your Nomad is simply used up. Since I don't own a Nomad, I don't know if it's possible to replace the pad - you might want to look into it, though.

I haven't had a chance to take it apart yet, but I plan to in the near future. I'll have to check out the pads and the PCB and make sure everything looks good in there.

It uses all model 2 cables and power etc (10V 0.85A). I have a problem that has only recently appeared but it seems that the sound has become distorted and now full of static. Anyone know what may of caused this or any way to fix it?

Sometimes with age that little speaker can blow after years of being played too loud. Do you mean the little speaker or the headphone jack? I hear what sounds like electrical interference out my headphone jack.
Not too surprised given how much is crammed in that thing.

was just wondering if anyone knew if you need a step down converter to run a sega nomad off a European mains? ive been using one ever since i got mine. wouldnt wanna try it without for fear of frying the thing :)
just noticed someone on ebay.co.uk selling a Nomad. they stated however that it is supplied with a mains UK power adaptor. there's screenshots of games working on the listing..
so, are they on the way to frying a console? or have i been using a step down converter for no reason at all? :D

The Genesis 2 and the MegaDrive 2 PSU output exactly the same volts and amps.
You only need to use a step down converter with the Genesis 2 PSU, while the MD 2 PSU is just plug & play ;)
