Hi! I have 2 copies of Knuckles Chaotix, a Sega 32x, a Genny model 1 and 2 model 2s, and I noticed that when I connected the 32x to one of my model 2s and tried to play knuckles chaotix, it craps out and freezes after like 15 seconds. the music keeps playing but the game itself just stops. it locks in place. It happens with BOTH copies of knuckles chaotix, and they have both been cleaned out, so that isn't the problem. This problem, however, doesn't happen with my other model 2 or my model 1 at all. it works fine. Even though the model 2 that it doesn't work in actually functions better with other genny games than does the 2nd model 2.
Please help!!!

Do you have the connector on the genesis where you would hook up the sega cd? A few games dont seem to work correctly without it.

If it doesn't happen on your other Genesis systems using the same cartridge and 32X, then you know it's a system problem. Based on what you said, I'd imagine the cartridge slot contacts may be loose, and it freezes the game since it can no longer accept information correctly from the 32X. You do have the metal shielding installed between the two, correct? Perhaps that could be it as well.

Yes, actually, I am using the metal shielding plates that go in the cart slot (they look more like misshapen hooks to me, but w/e) and yes, i do have that terminator cartridge-like thingy that goes on the end of the sega-cd port. I haven't tried it with that yet, i'll check back in a few days or weeks (whenever I can) as to what happens.

Sorry in advance for reviving a dead topic, but I figured it was better to revisit an old one rather than start a new one up for the same subject.
I have a Genny model 2, a 32x, and a few games; notably, my personal favorite out of the bundle right now, Knuckles Chaotix.
Basically, it's already been explained in this thread by Bubby_the_Tour_G, but I'll go ahead and state my piece for the record.
I connect the 32x to the SEGA Genesis 2, put Knuckles Chaotix in, and bam, game locks up about twenty seconds into gameplay. (To give you specifics, I can't even get to the title screen nine out of ten times-- the furthest I got in the game was right after beginning a new game as Knuckles and progressing forward about twelve seconds into the stage.) I've cleaned the game, cleaned the system, cleaned the 32x add-on-- I don't know what to do.
I had this problem a few years ago, IIRC, when I used to own my original SEGA Genesis model 2 that I bought brand new (I was the only owner of the system before I sold it). I owned a video game store, and got a lot of trade-ins on games, and so over time I had accumulated about three or four copies of Knuckles Chaotix (most of which were brand new or only slightly used). I would connect my 32x (which I had JUST BOUGHT-- brand new, factory sealed) into my freshly cleaned G2, put my copies of KC (didn't matter which one, the result was the same) and bam, lock-up within fifteen seconds, every time, guaranteed.
I eventually decided it was a hardware problem, so I sold all the games and systems and decided to start over fresh. Backburnered the project for about three years, and only very recently did I decide I wanted to play KC again, so I bought a G2 off of eBay along with a 32x and a copy of KC (making sure to buy from sellers who guaranteed working products in case that any one of them tried to weasel out saying it was a "hardware problem" or something that they couldn't be responsible for), cleaned them all up, put them together, and once again, can't get the game to run.
Is the problem with the Genesis 2 itself? I'm using everything I know how to-- the metal shielding, cleaning the systems with cleaning kits, making sure all the connections are nice and tight-- and it just won't run. Should I buy a model 1 system and try it on that? Has anyone else had problems running Chaotix on a Model 2?
Any help would be quite appreciated, since I have no way of playing this game at all unless I get a different system.
