I used to love this game when I was a kid... I play it now and it just gets boring and tedious rather quick.

huh? I'm sorry, but I don't get your question.

Do you mean what version I play? SMS or Genny? Well I own the Genny one, only one I've ever played.

Do you mean what next gen system do I play? None... well Ikaruga on GC and Panzer Dragoon Orta on XBOX but that's really it. I'm into my Saturn and Sega CD mostly. Been a SEGA geek since 1991!

The SMS version had a more solid engine in my opinion... The graphics also felt a bit cleaner, and didn't suffer from the grainy look as most early 16-bit titles did.

I never played the SMS version, but damn did Castle of Illusion seriously rock back in the day. It's a little slow, but the graphics are gorgeous, and the level design is fantastic. To really appreciate it you have to consider when it came out -- in 1990, much of what Castle of Illusion does with level design hadn't been done yet. You can even see its influence in the Sonic games.

This game has to be in the top-10 game list of any SERIOUS genesis owner.

I was blown away by its graphics, music and the "magical" feel to it.

I've never played the sms version either, I should pick it up some time. The genesis one is one of favorite platform games ever. Right up there with Sonic, Bonk and Mario.

The entire Illusion series is fantastic. Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion, Land of Illusion, Legend of Illusion, all excellent games.

Same goes for the Duck series: Quackshot, Lucky Dime Caper, Deep Duck Trouble.

No more, no less, both are gems of gaming. Even today I'm still surprised about the quality of those games.

World of Illusion I do not like. Level design isn't all that great, your attack is laughable, the controls suck, animations are cheesy, and nothing about it shines that much. Definitely the worst in the Illusion series.

World of Illusion's strengths are the incredible 2 player co-op mode, the music, the different settings depending on which character you play, and the sheer size of the game. Well, and it's Mickey and Donald together in one game!!!
