Is there any game like Super Smash Bros. for Genesis? Not necessarily 4-Player, but one that has the same sort of combat style and items.

It's unlikely, considering that I'm pretty sure I know almost the entire Gen library like the back of my hand, but I thought I'd give it a shot and toss this Q out. :p

Well, there's Yu Yu Hakuso: Makyo Toitsusen, the only (that I know of) 4 player fighting game on the genesis. I've been looking for a copy but it goes for like $100+ on ebay.

If you mean as in the whole "knocking your opponet off the stage instead of killing him normally" thing, I don't think so. SSB was the first game to really use that, which is what partially made it so popular.

I think Poy Poy is somewhat similar to what you want. It's a four player game in which you beat up other players with stuff like rocks and sticks(bombs too). Its for PS1.

In Streets of Rage 3 there is a special battle mode where you fight each other, using items you pick up. The environments play a part of the game too, with pits, electric shocks etc.

General Choas would be great for 4 player romps. You don't knock people off stages, but there's plenty of mayhem/destruction to keep people happy. It's not all that rare either so it should be a cheap buy.
