eBay doesnt seem to give a shit about a lot of things. on the megadrive area in Australian ebay some dickhead constantly floods the listings with accounts for world of warcraft accounts with high levels and lots of money. have reported it to ebay quite a few times but he's still doing it.

I just filter them out - there's an option somewhere to hide listings from specific sellers.
There are a billion ROM emporiums that offer their selections for free. Someone must be buying them, I suppose.

Yeah, I've noticed that it's annoying. I'll have to filter it next time I see it.

I just reported 10 of his items. Hopefully E-bay will do something about it.

I've bought bootleg DVD's off of ebay, I'll admit it, but this is just wrong.

I don't see why you'd ever do that, when its so easy to do your self. Whenever I want to see a DVD, I go to Albertsons, rent it for $1.00, and if I think that I'd like to watch it again, I decrypt it, shrink it then delete the FBI warnings then Burn it to a DVD+R.
The whole process probably costs about $2.00 per film, when the price of the DVD burner is factored in.
I'm not saying I do this all of the time, I still buy movies occasionally.

I'm not into pirating DVDs simply because they're not that expensive, but if I were I'd definitely keep the FBI logo on there just out of spite. I definitely don't believe in recompressing, but on some DVDs I imagine if you got rid of all the bullshit that you only watch once (like the special features) and the foreign language audio tracks and all that crap, it could fit onto a 4.3 GB DVD (those are usually labeled as 4.7 GB discs). But I have a dual layer burner so there would be no point in that.

If I can buy a movie legally, I do. The only things I buy pirated copies of are things that aren't on DVD or at least aren't on DVD in the United States like certain old-school Super Robot anime or as I just purchased, Megas XLR DVD's because Cartoon Network failed to deliver DVD's of the show as promised. 99% of my DVD collection is authentic but some things just can't be obtained through legal copies.

How 'bootleg'? Do you mean bootleg as in Taiwanese subbed handycam vids with pretty covers, or bootleg as in Joe Sixpack with a DVD burner, 50-packs of DVD-Rs, and a copy of DVDShrink selling copies of his DVDs (or worse, .mpg rips from BitTorrent) on demand? Either way, your post boils down to 'I buy illegal copies, but I don't like others selling illegal copies'.

If you like it so much, why not buy it legally? Would you have any problem with stealing videogames along these steps - you know, renting it, copying it, then returning the original? Putting aside technical issues, of course.

I reported him too, I'm surprised he's still up.
I work in music, so I don't pirate stuff. Well, I guess I do have a bunch of ROMs, now that I think about it!

I'm not trying to defend myself, I'm just saying if legal copies of what I want eventually come out, I'll buy them to replace crappy quality ones. Until then I'll pirate and I'll purchase and hell I'll even torrent.
I'm not being hypocritical, I'm not going to preach against piracy because thanks to it I've had a lot of great times that I wouldn't have had without it since I've never used it to obtain something I could just buy. All I'm trying to say is I think trying to sell ROM images on ebay is beyond stupid.
