View Full Version : Interview: Brandon Cobb
Now that Beggar Prince is in people's homes, what's next on the agenda for Super Fighter Team? Are they already working on another game? Might we yet see a release of ChuanPu's Shining Force-esque strategy/RPG Fengshen Yingjiechuan? Sega-16 sat down for some Q&A (http://www.sega-16.com/forum/../Interview-%20Brandon%20Cobb.htm) with the man with the answers, Brandon Cobb.

They're making a Symbian game, eh? That's unexpected.

Seems like a good guy, and I dig that hat.
The interview's actually a little inspiring; as a kid I always wanted to make a Dreamcast game, and with all the homebrew stuff I don't have a good reason not to...

I think itīs well worth the money!
The story and gameplay are pretty simple (in a positive way) so unlike in other old RPGs you donīt have to worry about how to get enough gold to buy new equipment and stuff.
Itīs just fun exploring dungeons and battling enemies; no money system at all; new equipment is auto-equipped and cannot be removed until you get something better; the story doesnīt take itself too serious, but the text is well written and full of little gags.
Sometimes you may not know how to proceed further, so you must read the text carefully; sometimes you donīt recognize the hints at first!
I donīt have to tell you about the graphics and sound since you have already seen the Taiwanese (not Japanese) version.
Beggar Prince may not be the most complex RPG, but that works for itīs advantage: Itīs easy to get into and fun to play. And it can definately not be compared to any other RPG Iīve ever played...it`s the only one of itīs kind!
Just give it a try!!!

At this point, we have received orders from the following countries: USA, Canada, Japan, England, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, and Ireland.
I wish I had enough money to get this game, if that's the definitive list I'd be the first person in Australia to own Beggar Prince.

"and Ireland"

We've actually received a few orders from Australia, beginning shortly after I was interviewed for this feature.

Yes, that would be you. :)
We're anxiously awaiting more orders from your country. They'd be most welcome.

How long as an estimate would it take for the remaining copies to sell out?

We've sold through 500 copies rather quickly. However, it is a classic gaming product, so the orders could keep coming in steadily or they could begin to trail off at any moment. I'm afraid I can't accurately pinpoint the time frame in which we'd sell through the remaining copies.
I've just sent a note out to everyone on the Beggar Prince mailing list, reminding those who haven't yet placed their order that we are running low, and there are also a few more magazines and websites set to present their reviews of the game very soon. Likely, these events will bring in more orders quicker, rather than slower.

Although I don't think there were any new revelations in the interview, it was still a good article.
Is this the first time we've interviewed someone who posts on the forum?

Kusanagi: Why don't you buy it directly from Super Fighter Team then? They take Paypal, which is so easy to use (and free).

Im going to buy it but heck im a genesis fan and i think the graphics and sound wil be okay and on par with the other RPG,s atleast il hope its game from 1996 officialy and better buy it now then some time cause then it would be scarse.Ill hope to see more genesis games, cause the system could have doen better and stil can,it had such a meager personality round 95,if sega was in to genesis maybe we would have seen a i shinobi 4 or a streets of rage 4,i mis those times only if we could turn back time and burn the 32x wile beeing released before sega,s eyes and protest make steets of rage 4 or shinobi 4,maybe vectorman 3,ill bet snes could pack their bags then ill already see a picture in my head of those games and SOR 4 with the best of best sega genesis guitar and eatable graphics better then snes.Genesis rules and hopefully stil does.Stil TF 4 gives me a warm hard as a metal fan i keep wondering where does the awesome guitar come from it keeps me scratshing my head and sounds cool while listening hopefully makes you cool to.Only if i could make a streets of rage game and had the potential and the drawing technices which i dont have,Arrg sore it only remains a dream seeing that game on a genesis its such a typical genesis reminder, maybe it would be screwed seeing on a 360 maybe not, final fight was screwed on ps2 come on streetwise(+cody is the blond dude from shenmue the start who keeps screeming ehy scoolboy disgusting).
