sega cd model 1 HELP!

have a model 1 sega cd that I'm testing for the first time..

heres my biggest problem: Boots up perfectly but when I attempt to place a disc and close the tray to play - the tray refuses to close! the system whirs and the tray closes but then opens again after a few seconds - refuses to stay closed and play game. Possibly the tray is not catching ?? I am clueless at this point. I've come so far I cant stop now - any help will be much appreciated!

Did you try pressing the start button? I forgot how the Model 1 tray works, LOL.

hah yes. i think the problem lies in a blown fuse near the cd tray I dont know..I'm contemplating trashing the darn thing but I'll give it a couple of days of tweakin around

If it does this, try switching the power OFF when the tray is closed for the second or two it is. Then power back up with the disc already inside and hit START. This happens sometimes because the Sega CD wants to play a good game, not a crappy one like Power Rangers or Kriss Kross Make My Video. Be sure to only insert good games!

Reset closes/opens,
Maybe, try, puching it and hitting reset (if open/close command0 when it is closed.
