Are these CD-quality remixes or just MIDIs on a CD? I've never heard of this stuff.

Well Comix Zone has vocals and is more of a band type soundtrack. You can listen to samples on this Page (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001VED/sr=8-4/qid=1152904347/ref=sr_1_4/103-9110661-7432631?ie=UTF8)
TJ&E samples sound funky as hell. Of course there better then the console version <3 Listen to the samples Here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001VEE/sr=8-3/qid=1152904347/ref=sr_1_3/103-9110661-7432631?ie=UTF8)

I really, really regret selling my Sega Tunes box set. :( The Virtual Sonic CD is somewhat redundant due to most tracks being lifted from Sonic Boom, but the Sonic Spinball tracks are terrific. Drossin's (I assume) vocals on the Comix Zone CD are annoying at first, but you get used to it since the game soundtrack is rock, grunge-like music anyway. The only real disappointment is how few songs there are. ToeJam & Earl and X-MEN 2 are really nice, but I can't say I enjoyed the Vectorman CD. Still bought it anyway -- I mean, it's 99 cents. :)
Review! Review! Sounds like a "Hands On" article to me. :p

I have the Toejam & Earl CD. Great stuff.
I have the Comix Zone "Roadkill" CD -- is that the same as the Sega Tunes CD but with different packaging? It doesn't say Sega Tunes on it, but it does have vocals n' stuff.

I haven't heard the roadkill album, you'll have to listen to the samples on the amazon site.

I'm actually working on something related to the X-MEN 2 disc pending interview. We really don't have enough soundtrack reviews here, so I'd like to do a Bare Knuckle 2 CD review (the one released by Mars Colony). If someone else rather, be my guest, as you'd probably beat me to it. :p I don't think there are that many MegaDrive/Genesis CDs released though.

Anyone know where I can download the X-Men 2 sega tunes? I've been listening to them on youtube and they really kick ass.

I'm talking about the Sega Tunes soundtracks and not just game rips.

Hint: FFShrine forums, or the Galbadia Hotel if you don't mind its finickiness.

They're CD quality mixes. At least the X-Men 2 one is. It's actually the original tunes as written by Kurt Harland from Information Society. I've been wanting to get my hands on that CD for a while now, but can't find it anywhere.

I checked Galbadia, but no X-men 2 there. Sigh.

I've heard all of this on Galbadia before myself. TJ&E2 was the most interesting. Until it starts going into improvisation. I swear they all sound horrible at that point, just mindless nonsense that stays in key. I guess since the songs are originally somewhat funky and bluesy, it just feels wrong that they'd suddenly switch into some sort of jazz improvisation.

You can rip the AACs off Youtube. They're LC and sound just fine. Check your PM otherwise!

Correction: the Comix Zone CD (included with all the PAL & Windows versions of the game!) is brilliant.
Also, 'Boss Opera' from Virtual Sonic is a remixed version of the boss theme from the prototype version of Comix Zone :)

If you're definitely after a hard copy, your best bet is to check VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net/search?q=sega+tunes) and shoot off a few PMs - failing that, everything tends to crop up on VGM World (http://www.vgmworld.com/) sooner or later. Failing that there's always eBay, but as you said unless you get lucky auctions can get ... competitive, especially with the harder-to-find stuff.
Only the :cool:est own the original discs, of course. Can't call yourself  with fakey MP3s ripped from some stinky back-alley torrent aggregator. (:P)
While we're still in 'fanboy wet dream land', I'd kill for a complete Shenmue music box set - the original releases were really limited, almost hen's teeth. Sonic's 20th is coming up, too - it'd be great if there was some special box set like there was for OutRun and After Burner.
