OK, before you reply, I'm NOT talking about the soundtrack here -- I don't care if you love it or hate it.

Does the Japanese verison of the game have any differences, other than the soundtrack than the US version? Like Japanese text somewhere?

The title screen in the JAP version is shorter, meaning that it goes off to the grainy, choppy cartoon more quickly than the US version. So the title screen cuts out before the music is done. Interestingly, if you take the JAP music and burn it with the US version of the game, the title screen will cut out when the music is done playing since it will wait lnger on the US version.

I noticed if you burn the US version of the game with the Japanese soundtrack, you'll still get the Sonic Boom song in the FMV.

I think one of the in-game tracks are also built in.

The Sonic Boom track is ADPCM and streamed a long with the video. It is impossible to play video and CD music at the same time, especially since it is only a 1x drive and the video needs to be coninually accessed and CD music takes up 100% of the bandwidth.

All of the past tunes are chip tunes, and all are the Japanese version, even in the US.

Why would they make the past tunes chip but present and future not?

Because they are lazy bastards who will burn in hell for not believing in the true Christian God. Or they ran out of room. One of the two.

Not sure if it's just me, but the JPN version seems a little bit easier to get thru the levels than the US version.
