I have a model 1 Genesis and a model 2 Sega CD. The AC adapters for both systems are working perfectly. When I turn my Genesis on I get a white screen on the TV and nothing happens. The Sega CD doesn't power on. Help please...
clean the connection between the genesis and sega CD

Did that... still nothing.
In fact I actually get a black screen on TV. It's white when I connect the mixing cable but just black when no mixing cable is connected...

All I can really say is that the Sega CD unit itself is probably screwed up. I bet the Genesis is fine. The only thing I can recommend is to attach the Genesis to the Sega CD and "readjust" that connection, like inserting a problematic cartridge and pulling it out ever-so-slightly in order to get it to work. Do this and then power on. Power off, readjust differently, repeat.

I tried that as well.
Is there anything I could do? Damn this sucks. I picked up this Genesis and Sega CD on ebay a few months ago. At the same time I got into shit with my parents so I didn't get my allowance and I don't have a job so I couldn't get AC adapters to test it out. This past week I bought 4 more Genesises (lol), a 32x I should be getting any day now, and the AC adapters I needed. The Genesis works perfectly but the Sega CD I cannot get to power on.
I should also mention that another one of them Genesis I bought was also a model 1 which works perfectly but the Sega CD doesn't work with it.
I took the Sega CD apart and everything looks normal, well at least it looked normal to me. Then again I couldn't remove that one small screw inside right next to the interface slot to see if anything under that "shield" is screwed up...

Why did you buy 4 more Genesises? Go for a new Sega CD instead!

2 reasons.
1. I am retarded.
2. I didn't know the Sega CD didn't work at the time I bought them. I bought 1 Genesis + controllers + games + cables in case the Genesis I bought with the Sega CD didn't work. The other 3 were being sold together and I got them pretty cheap just for the hell of it.
Well it appears that there's nothing I could do for this Sega CD although it appears in good condition. I guess I'll have to save up some cash for a bit and try my luck with another one... oh well...

Been there, done that... But for me its the 32X, and not because it's not working, but because the oh so sucky company I bought it from can't sell stuff complete (like they promised). Now I'm waiting for my second 32X... complete! So don't feel alone there pal, there are others who have done bad deals here.

Ah you must be missing them conversion cables or whatever they're called. I was about to buy a 32x for 15 bucks then I come across an installation FAQ for the 32x listing these 3 cables that I've never heard off before. I look around for them on ebay and find some dude selling them around 12 bucks a piece. What a rip off. Not only that but he probably makes them himself. The 32x I'm getting is complete and cheaper than I would've paid for the other 32x and them cables...

Yes, it is the conversion cable for the Mega Drive 1 I need. Now I'll get one, but I would like to have one more, because then I can play my games with the SCART cable (which gives better picture than RF). Btw, do you have the link to that auction with the cables? I really want one...

Some fellow on gamefaqs said I might have a blown fuse. Could that be the thing? What's it look like and how do I fix it?
