ok batman returns is a good game the only thing thats holding it back was the Graphics its all purple even batman catwoman and Penguin.you don't drive the batmanmobil in this one. its all fighting and that a good thing.
useing you hook to get up platform and swinging like spider-man too
the controls are very easy to work you can use your batbelt to use weapons and stuff the sound and music is very good too i like it very much
this game isn't that hard if you have alot of weapons too help ya if you use them up then you will die alot in this game but what makes me play this game alot i use the game genie to help to cheat and not get mad at this game and throw it everywhere so here's the game genie code i made for it Invincibility 0LYT-AA4R

daminmancejin2, you seem to be pretty adept with creating Game Genie codes for the Genesis. Ever thought of collecting them all together? This would make for a cool feature, like "new code of the week"or something. We could also put together a guide or something with new codes.

Oh and, Batman Returns was cool, but sometimes frustrating. That is all. :P

You can make an "Official Game Genie Code" thread here, and I'll sticky it.

BTW, that Batman Returns code worked like a charm. :)

I'm going to try out that Rocket Knight one you made. I'll check my games and see which ones need an invincibility code the most. Sometimes, I just want to play a game without worrying about running out of lives before I finish.

I just got batman returns, (and a load of other stuff)

However, I tend to agree, the genesis alone seems to be enough. The cd and 32x are nice and all, but the pwoer of sega is all in the genny.

Hmm trying to remember... I think it played better than Batman Returns, wasn't it more like a brawler... anybody?

IMO Batman Returns (Sega CD) is a must own, at least if you want it for its music. Driving sequences aren't bad either.

Anyway, the original Sunsoft Batman owns all Genny versions, so whoever is curious about it, get it. The next question is, what Sunsoft version is better, Batman (NES) or Batman (Genesis)... Its a hard choice.

after having owned a sega CD for as long as I have. . . I would never allow a genny system of mine to go without it.

The Sega CD is much more than worthwhile.

Oddly, I like the NES version better. They're basically the same game, but I actually liked the grpahics style on 8-bit quite a bit better. I remember I rented the Geneisis version years after expecting it to look awesome, as the NES version had looked so much better than the majority of the stuff on that system, but instead it had this horrible cartoony look. What a disappointment.

Still, better than Superman, which is totally lame. Superman games almost always suck though -- they seemingly can't find a game to fit around his powers, or as the case with Sunsoft's Suprerman, find a game to fit his powers into.

I also prefer the NES version of Batman over the Genny... relatively speaking, I feel the NES version's graphics are more impressive, the BGM rocks, and is far more deep in gameplay. Why Sunsoft didn't implement this in the Genny version blows my mind.

Are you talking about the original Batman game or the sequel? I still haven't played the original on Genesis, but I agree that it's one of the gems on NES.

Revenge, on the other hand was a decent game for the time, and graphically impressive for the NES, but the later port to Genesis was just lame in its graphical style. Though I remember the two being nearly identical in overall play and layout.

GeckoYamori

I believe the port was handled by a different developer, hence its crappiness. Whoever redrew the graphics had almost no artistic sense, the atmosphere was completely ruined.

Original Sunsoft Batman 1 version.

Ya'll feel that the original Sunsoft Batman 1 (NES and Genesis) were still the best versions designed? I do.

I haven't played Batman on Genesis, but I love it on NES. It's one of the great action/platformers made for the system, and Lord knows there were alot of those types of games on the Entertainment System.

One Batman game I really love is The Adventures of Batman and Robin on (wait for it) SNES. Looks, sounds and plays perfectly. The Catwoman stage is one of the most beautfully realized I've seen in representing the exhilaration that is inherent to this particular character and his nightly flights of fantasy made real. Konami so used to own.

Many praise Batman Returns on SNES as well, which I also have. But its mixture of platforming and beat 'em up is less than stellar in execution (the platforming stages should have been given different sprites or just been cut). It's been years since I've played the subject of this thread but I remember preferring its gameplay to that of its Konami cousin.

The one thing about Batman Returns for the Sega CD is that it demonstrates just what music can do for an otherwise average game. I remember playing the cart version first and then renting the CD version for the driving sequences, which were definitely worth it. But it almost felt like I was playing a different game and I got into it more than the cart version simply because of the great soundtrack.

I've ripped bits of the soundtrack to my iTunes playlist.
I've owned the game for years but I've yet to get sick of the soundtrack.

I assume it's the Elfman film score? I love that film's music.

Dare I say, that the ONLY reason why I own Batman Returns for SCD is for its music. Believe me, I <3 SEGA but IMO, the game itself is for the toilet.

I have both the Genesis and Sega CD versions. I can beat the platform levels in both versions with about five lives left of seven lives mode. The driving levels are difficult and I can only get to level three. The music is cool in the Sega CD version.

That's now what I was really getting at. So I have bad grammar too, I can read what he is saying fine. For my other comment: Go look at the Shadow Dancer page on Genesis Collective.

Man i am 10 then grammar wise, my English is as i think the worsest of the entire site but hell i can live with it, see i am still typing. BTW as for batman returns on sega cd its was okay even the driving stages didnt impress me that much why?, here is why because it had like only 20 colours in screen and 30 max, still fun game and the music rocks pretty much. As for Batman Revenge of the Joker that one was better on nes yes better music on the strange way(it needed lesser channels to sound that great)and the graphics are more of a pleasure on the eye then its genesis counterpart, I also enjoyed playing batman returns/Batman 3 on nes.

I have to say the snes version was most found for me, i liked that one as the best although it was very difficult, but did everything like the movie man the music i have to agree with every snes fan boy the music is such a breeze it Godly fine an for me on par with one of the ten best genesis games,This is why i bought a snes back in the days this is what gives me the warm feeling of searching channels and playing snes with super kick off and batman returns, street fighter which just was better on snes. How about one Big Batman Trivia once i like to see that and the comparisments beween all versions.

Are we all playing the same game? I loathe Batman Returns and would rather have a root canal than enjure another second of wandering (slowly) around a miserable looking Gotham City. The graphics and music are so depressing that everytime I play this I slip into a state of despair in which I lament all the wrongs of the world.

I love Batman Returns. It's definitely my favourite Batman game on the Genesis.

It's got it's flaws, but I think it's a blast. I particularly love the boss battles, the plethora of weapons you get in your utility belt, and the dark moody graphics which capture the Gotham City of the movie.
