Unlike most of Disney's other platformers, which brought the Genesis some excellent gameplay and animation, TaleSpin is thoroughly mediocre. I guess the whole plane theme is fitting, as this one starts its engine but never really gets off the ground. We've a complete write up (http://www.sega-16.com/2006/07/disneys-talespin/) on it, so have a look and see why this one is denied clearance for take off.

Is that "Bear Necessities" song in the game?

No... I think that was in Jungle Book.

I used to love the show (and the nes game), so this was a big disappointment for me. I think they should've focused on the shooting levels.

I've not played this but just wanted to say that the only good which came out of Gargoyles is Freakazoid's Lawn Gnomes parody. :p I do recall the TG-16 game (which I think came out first) getting slammed in reviews. It looks similar but with the Tailspin logo taking up real estate on the status screen. I wonder if they're the same game? Descriptions of both are similar, but I can't ever recall a Disney game being released on both consoles.

Good reveiw, but i'm confused. Did Capcom have anything to do with this version like the reveiw says? I thought only Disney and SEGA were involved with the Genny version.

Isn't the blue bear from Jungle Book the same critter that is the star of Tail Spin? If not, then why are Disney characters so, ummm, "un-unique"?

The Genny version was developed by Interactive Designs, who also developed Greendog.

Same bear. Just no "Bare Necessities."

My box says Capcom on the back, so I just threw it in at the end, even though they don't seem to be mentioned anywhere else.

My guess is that Sega sublicensed the rights to TaleSpin from them or something.

Picked this game up a day ago and played it to completion. I actually enjoyed this version more than the nes one because it alternates between platform levels and airplane flying ones.

This thread requires at least one post by Baloo (Sega-16 user). :)

What? I haven't posted in this thread? Definitely posted on the game comments though.

This game is tosh, really bland platformer that's in no way fun or interesting. It's more confusing, bland, and boring than anything. Doesn't have good sound, good graphics, good gameplay, nothing. Pure and total junk.

Avoid it.

And don't even look up the Turbographx-16 game.

I actually mildly liked this. The shooter parts were the stand out and there was some alright platforming. Generally though, nothing much special about it and just bad compared to other Disney titles.

Actually something I just remembered. I used to own this game and the very day I first beat it, it broke. Literally. I beat it, turned it off and when one of my brothers tried to play straight after, the game didn't work and never worked again. My brothers all hated me for a little while.
