Our eleventh installment of Stories from the Book of Genesis (http://www.sega-16.com/2006/07/stories-from-the-book-of-genesis-vol-11/) has editor Nick Gibson illustrating just how the desire to beat a game can overcome even severly cold temperatures. Hardcore or masochist? You decide!

I enjoyed reading it. I remember until recently I couldn't get past the level where the soldiers first appear.

Contrary to the opening part of the article, I've never thrown a controller at anything but a pillow. Even in times of extreme anger, there's this little part of me that keeps thinking logically.

"I HATE YOU MEGAMAN! WHY CAN'T YOU JUMP FARTHER, YOU PIECE OF... Wait. If throw this, it will break. And then I won't have it."

Anyone else have that little logic switch that flips on when you're about to do something stupid out of anger?

Most of the time that switch activates. Every now and then, however, I'm so incredibly angry that I choose to disregard that switch for that moment of pleasure one gets by hefting one's controller. :p

Oh, hey, I was so busy thinking about logic switches and such that I forgot to mention that I enjoyed the article.

How long ago was this chilling experiance, Mr. Gibson?

About five (maybe six) years - I sort of guessed at the age. I'm glad you liked it, since such grand stupidity is obviously a little embarassing.

Great story. Very well written with the right atmosphere.

Great game, and I've made such a trek, hell these where common -- my house didn't get AC until a few years back, and my mom complains it is always too hot, so it'd be cold in the winter too.

Never stopped me much, and FWIW, I made an *insane* ofter for a confirmed RoS cart with Batman.

This is one of the manliest stories I've ever heard.

Just because you said that, I'm going to write a story for the sole purpose of topping this one in that specific regard. Expect to read about my chest hair. And possibly my scrotum.

That was an amazing story. I went through two boxes of tissues during my reading of that tale of legendary valor. I loved it.

Good job.

I broke 3 PlayStation controllers before realising it was easier to yell out obscenities. I throw the Megadrive controller every now and then but it's more of a tossing-away-in-disgust thing.

Remember, it STILL has to tie in to the Genesis somehow. If you can successfully combine body hair with Comix Zone or something, you will officially write the Manliest Tale Ever.
