Sega Team Player Adapter

I just recently bought a Sega Brand 4 way team player adapter to engage in multiplayer General Chaos action. However, when I set the team player to the "multi" switch, it doesn't work. It works for two players when I set it to A, B, C, or D switches and it's corresponding controller port.

I know it's not the team adapter because afterwards I tested it on NBA JAM T.E., WWF RAW, Guantlet IV, and had 4 controllers working fine in game.

What gives? Busted cart? Contacts have been cleaned with an eraser and then with qtip/alcohol.

Does General Chaos support the adaptor? I think it might of only been compatible with EA's 4 Way Play or whatever it was called.

Joe's right. For EA games you need their adapter; for Sega ones you need the Sega adaptor. Or you can get the Performance brand one that's universally compatible, but I've had bad experiences with those just not working.

oh wait a second... after doing a bit of googling, it appears there were 2 versions of the team play that were branded Sega. I'm wondering if the 2nd one worked with EA games and perhaps I bought the first version?

ack... who knows. i hate re-selling on ebay...

I think the second version was, well to blend in better with the Genesis 2 perhaps?

Note the differences not only in the print on box but also on what's printed on the multi tap itself. I bought the wrong one... :bang:

I have that thing, no box, used, I'll have to try that tommorrow. It works with NBA JAM TE, and Gaultnlet 4, I think it works with the EA too, I'll check later.

I tested it, does not work with Madden 96!

Which version of the Sega Team Player do you have? I think that makes the difference.

And I believe you need to plug in both controller ports 1 and 2 on the team player to make it work for EA games. Ugh... what a pain... that's impossible on my nomad

however, I am working on something that might let me get around this :cool:

I'm thinking of getting one....
