Well, I'm not a huge RPG fan, but how many hours could I get out of the second and third one? I bought loose european copies from a US seller, because they where oh so cheap, and if I'm going to make an impulse buy -- it should be something revered, right?

I play phantasy star 2 on my dreamcast (in the smash pack) I like it. Just save alot if you do end up playing :P. I gave up playing that game for a while because I died too much, but thats just me. I ended up buying ps1 and will prob play that before i play ps2 again.

PS II is a good 40 hours, and that's with the hintbook. If you go at it without maps, add a good 5-10 hours to that.

I beat PS III in 10 hours, so it's much shorter. However, there are multiple storylines, depending on who you marry in each generation, so there's reason to go back and play again.

They're really fun games! My roommate had 'em, definitely a good buy.

They are really good games. PSII can drive one to murder in frustration... or at least it can do that to the unwary. I still want to kill the game for erasing my file just when I was about to meet Niefirst. It can be a very long game regardless, especially because you'll need to take some time to level up.

PS3 is pretty short all things considered, but as Melf said the alternate storylines merit another playthrough. But be warned, this game can drive one insane with it's randomness.

Phantasy Star 2 and 3 are not worth much in Germany when they´re loose, maybe 5,- € or so.
Phantasy Star 4 is pretty rare, it goes for at least 30,-€ boxed, sometimes even without the manual.
So maybe you could get 10,- or 15,- € for your loose copy.
Or you may just want to send it to your good buddy 108 Stars as a gift...

Yup, best of the series, including it's sorry multiplayer RPG sequels.

I hope they go back to the old ways, I'd like to play a phantasy star game again.
