What is there anyway? I know about Target Earth... And parts of Vectorman or Power Rangers as a stretch. Not much comes to mind. A popular if cliche concept with little developer love on the Genesis. East or west alike. I mean no Mechwarrior, no Super Robot Wars, no Gundam?? Gee. Japan must've been pretty baffled.

Well you had a Mechwarrior game it was called BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat

What do you mean, no MechWarrior? There's BattleTech (http://www.sega-16.com/review_page.php?id=162&title=BattleTech:%20A%20Game%20of%20Armored%20Comb at)!

Also, Metal Head for the 32X.

And if you want Mech/Robot Fighters, there'S "Mazin Saga Robot Wars" and the mediocre "Heavy Nova". There's also "Cyborg Justice", but that one's pretty crappy.

The answer to your question is in my avatar :).

Ranger-X is the best game on the system with a Mech/Robot, it's a bit complex but very fun with great graphics and awesome weapons.

Soulstar (CD) has 3 stages where you play as a mech, although they're not very fun (hold B for turbo, makes it a lot better)

Battlecorps (CD) is pretty cool too, but I haven't played it enough to tell you much about it.

In Android Assault (CD) you turn into a mech when fully powered.

Robo Aleste (CD) and Musha are shooters where you play as a mech.

Battletech (Mechwarrior) is available and totally awesome although the music is pretty crappy and I can't figure out how to not get raped by enemy mechs.

In the european version of contra hard corps (probotector) every character is replaced by a robot.

There's Vectorman like you said.

Mazin Saga is an interesting Beat'em up/Fighter although not that great.

And then there's complete shit like Heavy Nova... UGH

EDIT: Forgot Vixen 357, a strategy rpg with mechs. Unfortunately besides the EXCELLENT intro tune, most of the music is rather boring. And the graphics could be better.

There is also top-down shooter Final Zone.

Sparkster; you start the game in one and there's more stages with you in it, I think the original Rocket Knight Adventures has it too - but I might be wrong...

Yeah there's a stage with the robots in RKA too, but that's a bit of a stretch :P, it's just a mini game.

Target Earth is probably a better Gundam action game game than any of the actual Gundam games released in the 16-bit era anyway.

Mechs are one of my favorite things if you can't tell by my avatar. Sadly I can't think of any other games that haven't already been mentioned.

Vixen 357 is a lot like Super Robot Wars just with original characters. I never got too far in it because of the language barrier though.

Edit:

Oh! Arrow Flash, duh. And I was just playing it too. It's another shmup where your ship transforms into a robot. Sort of Macross inspired.

I also forgot about Exo-Squad.

There is also top-down shooter Final Zone.

I've heard of this but I've never really tried it. Looks cool! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
