There's been a beta floating around the interwebs for ages now, and yet I don't know of a single site that has any details on it in regards to changes between it and the final release.

Anyone know of a site? If not, I'll be more than happy to post what differences I've noticed...

I checked two sites that do have prototype stuff (X-Cult and The Cutting Room Floor) and they have nothing on it. In fact apart from the Sonic series, World of Illusion, Gunstar Heroes (even though the site is gone), Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, Ecco: The Tides of Time and a few other games, there seems to be no info on the prototypes or betas at all with lots of games that no one has looked at.

Go ahead and post your findings, I'm interested to read about them.

For those interested (?), I'll be going over the proto with a fine toothpick tomorrow. That means an in-depth comparison between the final game and a shit load of pics.

I did this with Bonkers on X-Cult a couple years back. Had lots of pics too. Now that site's kinda screwy and all the pics that helped are down. Plus I posted about it on their forums. No one gave a shit.

Basically if it's not a huge franchise, most protos out there are ignored. I suppose the possible best place to post any info so that's it's more accurately archived is on The Cutting Room Floor these days.

OK, I'll be starting on this in a few hours, but I've made a 'small' discovery already: the game's not an empty hub, you can enter some houses. It's tricky, because the houses in the hub have no collision, but if you stand outside an enterance and press START you'll warp inside. More to come.

EDIT: I'm starting it tomorrow; game's on my other Xbox and I'm too lazy at the 'mo to hook the two together and FTP it to the one I'm using now.

I've got 160 pics down from the beta and some notes - this is def more work than I thought it would be. :)

Tomorrow I'll go through the final version, take screenshots of it, compare notes and them compile it into a .doc file.

No; no MJ cameo I'm afraid. But there are differences. A fuck ton of 'em.

Sorry it's taking alot longer than i promised, been a little addicted to AVP of late. Just got to finish up writing and I'll post it. Promise.

EDIT: I've 'tracked down' the guy who made the game (via Google); but he's web site is old. Hasn't been updated since at least 2004, though there's an email address. I've got some questions I'd like to ask him about the game's development - do you think I should bother?

I see no reason not to try. If he's still paying for his website, he must still be alive. :)

Still working on this; at least 320 pics to compare, and notable differences as well. That, and I'm lazy. ;)

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. Bad news? Hard drive crashed a couple of days ago and deleted a 75% completed version along with alot of my vids and music. Kinda lost interest right there, but got back in and just started it all up again. Only thing that needs to be compared now is the houses themselves; it's sloppy and quick, but let me know what you think.
