I finally got to take a week off and get some R&R, so we went to Disney World. I hadn't been there in over 15 years, and the wife had never gone, so it was something new for all of us. My 3 year-old daughter is nuts about everything Princess, so she was thrilled from the day we first mentioned it.

This is the crappy TV internet my room had. Supposedly, you were had to go down to the lobby to use their wireless connection, but my laptop managed to get a signal from our room, so I stopped using this crap after the first day.

Monorail madness! There were so many fucking people there our first day, but things quieted down a bit after Monday, when classes started in Orlando.

Lots of people, and Walt & Mickey are there to greet them all.

Main Street is fucking awesome, and there was always a carriage, parade, or something going on. My daughter got to mingle with both Donald and Goofy, as well as see this cool horse-drawn carriage with a barber shop quartet!

We got there just in time to see Cinderella's coronation. I got the whole thing on video (which means I'll end up seeing it about 500 more times), as well as some pics.

My little girl and me in Minnie Mouse's living room. She has a nice crib!

Minnie's #1 fan!

This was cool to see as you came out of Pirates of the Caribbean. Sounded like Johnny Depp too.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/Melf00/DVC00102.jpg

Dino-Rama in the Animal Kingdom was a cool carnival-style area with some great games and sites for the tots. This big dino is at the entrance.

The fake fossils were nice, and kids were nuts for the whole thing, my little one included!

Sharing some love near Cinderella Castle.

Of course, I had to stop at the Tomorrow Land Arcade!

8-player Daytona USA = goodness!

Check out the sweet deluxe Ferrari 355 Challenge.

I would SO love to own this bad boy. Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and Mario Bros. in one awesome Nintendo cab.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/Melf00/41.jpg

Whew! All pooped out.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/Melf00/DVC00140.jpg

So it's off to dinner at Benihana! This is the old man and me.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/Melf00/46.jpg

We had a latin chef who was a fucking god at cooking. Best Teriyaki steak ever.

All in all, Disney is really great, and my wife and I are already planning our return. I didn't get to go to Universal Studios, but I'll hit it up the next time around.

Awesome pics man! Glad to hear ya had a good time. I am 21 and I still love Disney world and will till the day I die =) I've gone to that Benihana too, and although I didnt have any hibachi, I am very big on sushi, and they had an amazing selection I must say.

Benihana is amazing. No matter which one you go to anywhere in the country, they all taste the same. I love that consistency.

If that is animatronic, then that looks really, really creepy!

That's actually an actor. He had another pirate with him, and they were "recruiting" pirates for their next voyage.

Am I the only one who thinks Melf looks like Carlos Mencia? =)

Maybe if Melf was 3 or 4 times his current size he could double for Haratio. Otherwise Melf is just too small.

I've never been to Disney World, but that Daytona setup is the strongest argument I have for going. :) I didn't think something like that would exist outside of Japan. The most I ever see is a single twin cabinet. Did the arcade have many new releases, or was it stuck in the 90's for the most part?

There were mostly new releases. They had deluxe cabs for both OutRun 2 and OutRun 2 SP, as well as lots of other new games. They had some odd ones too. I'd never seen the deluxe cab for Revolt or the Star Trek Voyager light gun game. There was another one there called Turret Tower, where you are closed inside and rotate all around. Kooky stuff.

That was an insane Daytona linkup there - way bigger than any arcade I was ever at. Not sure if it's worth the price of a Disney ticket. (Firstborn son, right?)

Anyway, looks like a great time. Nice to have you back.

I hate to poop on Melf's thread, but I went 10 years ago and I wasn't a big fan when I went.

My mom got enjoyment out of it, and she usually hates theme parks.

Until recently, an arcade in Metrowtown Mall (Vancouver, Canada) had an 8 person daytona setup just like that...

Heh, I haven't been to Disney World since I was about the age of Meif's daughter. So, I remember nothing.

I don't think I'd want to go, though. I'm not a big fan of large crowds. That 8 person Daytona, though... man.

Gameworks in columbus, ohio, has that. It's either daytona or indy. They also have an announcer that talks shit at everyone racing, letting everyone know who's in the lead, etc. Great for large groups.

PS - I led until the last half of the last lap, when one of my friends took us both out into a wall...

They make and sell those Mario/Donkey Kong cabinets brand new somewhere. I really want one too. I almost bought a Virtual Fighter cabinet for $250 this summer but someone else got to it first.

Disney World is always an awesome experience. I'm not even a big park person mainly because I work at one over the summer but I always have a good time at Disney, they really go all out. Personally I find the Universal parks cooler but that's just because I'm not a kid anymore.

I've been to Euro Disney in Paris. In January. It was snowing. Fucking cold. I had a bastard of a tooth ache all the way through. Had a shag in Paris though. Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show was tops. Never think that horses are dumb animals.

What I can recommend is Zoo Marine Portugal. Not every day you get to stroke & kiss a sea lion straight on the mush. Don't get me started on dolphins. They have bull fighting there though which is very bad, nasty people.

^ Yes I strongly agree that I would kill for that badboy by far....what's weird is Melf looks like a dude who used to be my neighbor when I was a kid, really nice guy. Ironically he moved back to Puerto Rico to live with his grandmother as his father continued on with his military career.

Not the 1980 sit down Star Wars arcade machine? You heathen! I'd rather have a Kung Fu Master cab than that. Or Shaolin Road. Come to that Track & Field or Hyper Sports.
