View Full Version : Star Control
PC gamers know Star Control well. They've been playing it and its stellar sequels for years. Console owners have had to make due with only the original game, which was ported to the Genesis in 1991. Yeah, being able to nail an enemy ship with that slow shot from long range is great, especially when the shot wraps around the field. :) The VUX is fun for me, too, cause it's so satisfying once you can slow the enemy to a crawl to blast it with the BFG. :)
I still love the Arilou, though, cause it feels as though I'm piloting a space scalpel able to dissect anything in my path. I think the only bad matchup for the Arilou is the Syreen, and even then the ship can't steal your last remaining pilot.
I never cared to play it against the CPU, but the 2-Player battles were a lot of fun.

Most of my experience with this game has been on the PC. Having recently picked up a complete copy and playing it on the genesis, I'm a little disappointed. While everything is where it should be and looks fantastic, there is a large amount of slowdown that occurs during battles. It doesnt help that the game handles overclocking very poorly either.
Not quite the experience I remembered it to be...
