One went today for about $245 including delivery, had 9 games, all having boxes and instructions. Item no 120017731915
I briefly thought about bidding but then snapped out of it, as there's other
things that take priority.
I think a 32x tmay be the absolute last thing to get, if
I wanted to be a completist, but I've never played on one. So, I'm
not keen on getting just for Chaotix (unless its the best game ever made).
Having read the review of Doom, I'd rather play it on my PC.
What do you folk think, ie, what sort of ceiling price range should I put on a
standalone unit? and/or games(PAL)

That seems like a terrible rip-off for a 32X and a few games, I've seen 32Xs and games in huge bundles(Sega CD, Genesis, about 30 games in all[the good ones, too] varying on all platforms) for less than 200USD. Maybe it's more rare in Pal, making it worth more, but I'd never pay that much for it after how I've seen it sell.

PAL 32X? I'd pay about £15, maybe £20 for a loose 32X with no game. Make that £30 if it's got a decent game included with the connection wires, £50 if there's three or four games included.

PALs are more expensive, but that's still a ripoff. Gotta wonder what the heck those bidders were thinking.

Ive seen complete mint boxed 32X going for 80$ on tradera.se twice (prolly the same one). Seema like it for once its cheaper to buy em localy than hunt em down on ebay.

Wow that was certainly more than I'd pay for that lot. I was thinking maybe it included Spiderman Web of Fire, but the really only Chaotix and Afterburner were worth anything. Those things must be hard to find complete in the UK or something.

In the UK 32X's can catch a pretty penny. I was looking on Ebay UK for some PAL only Megadrive games and I saw a guy selling like six PAL 32X consoles... but with no cables.

I found a boxed 32X, with wrappers and such at a carboot sale for £4 about 4 or 5 years ago. I was quite chuffed. Of course, in true gamer style i ripped open the plastic bags and whacked it in my megadrive :D. None of that "Don't break the seal" rubbish. In the end i think I sold it again for £30 or so. I'm quite content with emulating 32X games on my PC.

I think maybe you're looking at it from the wrong angle? It sold for GBP 121.36. This is equivalent to about two new games in the UK. With the exchange rate, you're now looking at 5-6 new games in the US. The British pound is worth more, and I'd imagine wages and general cost of living would be reflected in that as well, making it hardly the huge sum the dollar rate makes it out to be.

The hook-up cables aren't really that hard to make yourself, when all's said and done. Stick in a MD2 power pack, and you're ready for 32-bit fun :D

I didn't factor that into the equation. That's a good point, they seem to quite cheap in the US. I may have put it into $ to get varying views on it, hmm.
I'll pick one up eventually I guess. I read through the master list and recommendations and some attractive games are US only.
It'd be ok plugging a UK 32x into a modded Mega Drive running at 60hz?

I got mine for free! It was lying on a friends closet together with a PSX. Best free gifts eva :)
I did have to buy the cables which cost me like 15 euros (including a MD2 for 2.5 euro :)
I still need the 32X AV cable. :(

I thought it was the spacer? A Genesis 2 AV cable works great, or if you want S-video, buy a XMD-3.
FishySaysSpoon traded me the spacer, but I still have to play in horrible RF.

A Genesis 2 AV cable should work, or if you read Joe Redifers Video Connections article, you could read more about the XMD-3.
It'd cost a pretty penny...

I can't make a new thread yet, so I'm going to post here since I assume this is close-enough related.
I just bought a 32x and two games from my friend for $20. He has a model 1 genesis, so with the 32x<->Genesis AV cable, he has an original model 1 to model 2 AV port adapter. Is this worth anything? I have a model 2 genesis, so I have no need for it. Is it worth buying...or a trade or something?
Zebbe
06-23-2007, 07:02 AM
Yeah, the Gen1->32X cable is worth those $20 alone, maybe even more, if you put it up on eBay (and enough people see it of course).

Well, I'll dust off an old South Park line to sum up the person who paid that much for the 32x.
Person in Crowd (talking to Bush): "Are you high, or just incredibly stupid?!"
Bush (to crowd): "I assure you, I am NOT high."
If you're wondering what episode this is from, it's the Ladder to Heaven one from Season 6.
But anyway, I've seen most boxed 32x systems go for $50-$60 on average; I'm hoping that this guy got some of the better games with this bundle. BTW do you recall what games came with this set?

Yea you can easily make your 20 bucks back for it. I paid 15 for that same cable before shipping (also came with a 32x and the 32x box, no other cables though) but I think i got lucky on that one as they have gone for significantly more on ebay.

There is Nothing wrong with your english. Its perfectly understandable. Your problem is that you dont put spaces after your, and. And you dont start new sentences with a capital letter. Also, if I really want to be picky, I would like more punctation). It would be much more pleasing to the eye if you did something like this:

I only thought 32X's fetched that sort of money over here in Europe!
And even then It's boxed, mint with games!
The only reson I ever paid over ten quid for a 32X is because I brought one new, and now I regret not waiting a year by which time Electronics Boutique were selling them off for 30 pounds or giving them away free when you brought an old stock MDII and two games!

Don't feel bad, I was the sucker who got his parents to buy hime a 32x with Doom brand new for christmas ($220 or so) and then didn't get another game until Blockbuster was clearing them out after the 32x's demise.
Although I think I was playing Doom for a good 6 months straight.

I can easily mod an NTSC 32X to be PAL.
Only thing is, it outputs NTSC-50. But if you use an RGB cable, your safe anyway.

I don't use the spacer... is there a risk of fire or something lol?? What's its use? Cosmetic purposes? I mean, my 32x works perfectly fine without it.
