View Full Version : Your Mega-CD / Sega CD BIOS

Take a look in the right-hand corner of your console's boot screen: what BIOS version do you have? I'm curious as to how common some versions are, and which BIOS revision matches which model number.

My contribution: I have a PAL Mega-CD 2, version 2.0 BIOS.

As a side note: I've never, ever seen the Japanese Mega-CD model 2 BIOS. Has it been dumped at all?

Sadly, no it hasn't. No one seems to care. I mean... I know for a fact a few years ago you couldn't give Japanese model 2 systems away! Maybe some webstores still have some new systems in stock!

though the sound on my mega cd 1 seems to have cashed in its chips- it has bios version 1.00

I have two Sega CD consoles, a Model 1 and a Model 2. Here are their BIOS revisions.

Model 1: 1.10
Model 2: 2.00

I have a US (Canadian) Sega CD Model 2. It's bios is 1993 ver 2.00

2.00 and 2.21. You all should know which is which, lol.

For some reason my brother is amazed by Sol Feace and doesn't like Lords of Thunder because you have to buy stuff? Wtf?

The Sega CD model 2 version number is inaccurate..

On "later" Sega CDs, it's actually 2.11, but the screen still says 2.0...

Is there a way to tell the difference? Mine was boxed in a set that included Road Avenger if that helps pin down the time of release.

The 2.0 BIOS actually has TWO different versions. Sega screwed up and had to change something. You can tell by the color of your CD spindle, because the laser assembly changed too..

Silver Spindle: 2.0 - 9303
Black Spindle: 2.0 - 9306

I have dumped both versions. I was actually the first person to dump the 9303 BIOS in working condition.
