I followed the instructions for Genesis setup (I'm using version 2) on the abovementioned page. I hooked it up to the VCR on the hookup that it fits in. I have it on Channel 3 (Everything, including my digital cable box, is hooked up to auxilary through one of those input select switches). I had the TV on auxilary naturally, and the VCR was on Channel 3 when I tried to turn on my Genesis for the first time in years (TV signal was not on auxilary at that point, as the TV tuner in it was still working). Anyway, the TV signals kept on coming in (Channel 3 shows TV signals when not viewing a tape). I pressed the TV/VCR button on the VCR remote, and I got a blue screen.

Can one of you help me, please?

EDIT: I'm using the RF adaptor. Right model, too.

have you tried channel four? It should be fuzzy when you are not playing a game. THe Genesis doesn't want to fight your tv station for the right to display on your tv, because your genesis will loze everytime.

Actually the Genesis should win every time since it is direct feed.

Tried both channels. Tried hooking it up to the TV directly.

I used to play this thing all the time when I was little.

If connecting the Genesis directly do the TV doesn't work, the RF connector might have broken loose from the board. This is common with Genesis 2 systems that won't power up. People would constantly push their systems against the wall or the back of their entertainment centers, stressing the solder points.

What am I supposed to do, then?

Remove the top of the system, and the big metal RF shield inside. Check the block the RF adapter plugs into. If it wiggles when you try to move it, it broke loose. Inspect it closely just in case the solder is cracked, but the connector is still tight.

Yeah, I just checked the inside. No visible problems, and the block had a deathgrip on the motherboard. Maybe I'll try again.

EDIT: There are no visible faults in its connection to the motherboard. Here are some pics:

Sorry that that last one was fuzzy, it's the best I have. But yeah, those copper contacts looked spotless.
