Well, not that I'm not working on acquiring originals, I have been able to get my hands on some SegaCD isos. The problem I'm having is that some of these copies don't appear to load properly. The problem is with these arcade classics collections isos. I put them in my CDX and I get the SEGA/Sonic logo but it seems to stop after that, doesn't load anything more. AD&D loaded just fine in my CDX, but these other 2 didn't. Also, Final Fight CD only loaded as music CD, but the fact that it's a JAP game may be the issue. I'm using Verbatim 700MB CDRs and burning at 8x (the slowest my DVD burner does CDRs). Any ideas here people?

P.S. I typed this all with Windows on-screen keyboard because my wireless keyboard's batteries were recharging.

Are you making sure to convert the MP3's into WAV format and creating the CUE files accordingly? If not use winamp or winlame to convert the mp3's and sega cue maker to create the cue files afterwards. Lastly you should get ConvSCD110 to convert the region just to be on the safe side. Outside of all that it might be the fact that your burning the games at too high a speed, try finding out if a new firmware upgrade is available for your DVD burner.

I had the same problem with Cobra Command. I got the boot up screen, and then nothing. :(

To my knowledge the only Sega CD game not to work on the Sega CDX is Lunar, and I've yet to find a copy that'll work on my CDX. As for getting other games to work it's not that tough really you just have to make sure the game is in bin/cue or cue/iso/wav format, the region is either originally or converted to the system's region, and that you burn the game slowly in either nero or alcohol 120% as CDRWIN IMO sucks hard.
There's nice lil tut at Segaxtreme on how to burn Sega CD games: http://www.segaxtreme.net/misc/helpfaq.html

IMO just switch out the region converter the FAQ recommends with the newer and better "ConvSCD110", use "Sega Cue Maker" instead of creating a cue from scratch, and switch using CDRWIN with Nero or Alcohol 120% and your set. The FAQ tells you how to do it, but since it's outdated I've told you what's better to use.

SX, my fav site (no offense). Im always over there, go and check it out they are always willing to help! I will say though, please read the tutorial first before you go and ask questions. A lot have already been answered as so many people have been to the site.

Also, I'd like to just add. I have NEVER once had to burn at low speeds or anything. I have burned in nero at 40x all the time. But that is irrelevant I guess. Have you booted a legite game yet on this CDX, you should make sure the thing works properly too.

Actually, the isos I was burning were who images, MDS (Alcohol 120%) image files I think also. Though I burned them using dvd decrypter. Haven't tried again yet. Maybe I'll re-install A120 and try burning them with that.

OK, first what is a "who" image? Never heard of them.

Also I would use something other then DVD Decrypter to burn the CDs. I'd advise Nero, or EZCD Creator if you have any none NT system (win 9x). Thirdly I would say when looking for game backups try to get BIN/Cues or ISO/MP3 (the mp3 are converted to wav during burn). I don't see much good coming out of the other image types in my history of SEGA CD backups (which is a lot of history, been swappin' ISOs since I got my first single speed burner on an old 433 in like 98').

Lastly if Alcohol doesn't burn those mds images right DL MagicISO and convert the mds file into a bin and cue file and burn it with nero.

So far every game I have backedup/burned have worked save the two lunar games. I can manage to start a game in lunar 1 but cant make it past the very first voice over. Basically less than 30s in the game I have managed to play. It works on emulators just fine however. Even burned to cds. I have tried multiple cds and burning techniques. www.segacd.org is a good site on backing up sega cds.

I use SegaCueMaker + Nero to burn Sega CD isos, works good.

You don't need to convert your MP3's (if you have a ISO+MP3 rip) with nero.

Lunar 2 works fine for me but Lunar 1 never seems to work, even on my new JVC X'Eye. Also I hate that you get some bad audio/video synch problems with backups.

I have a scratchy copy of Lunar 1 and it works just fine on my CDX.

But all this info should be usefull for getting my copy of Anet Futatabi to work.

Thanks vic :P

Is it an original or a backup? I can get my backup of Lunar 1 to work on a PC/XBOX emulator but not on my Sega CDX/JVC X'eye. From what I've read Lunar was one of the few Sega CD games to have compatability problems with the CDX/X'eye.

I am pretty damn annoyed right now. Most, if not all, Sega CD guides tell you to convert the mp3's into wav before burning. I've been doing that all this time and always had audio/video synch issues. I just figured not having the original cue sheets is what lead to this. After David's recommendation to just burn iso/mp3 in Nero w/o converting the mp3's I tried this and every game has played flawlessly w/o hiccups. I re-DL'ed Snatcher and burned it this way and it was perfect. If only I had knowned this a couple of years ago I wouldn't have a bunch of games w/ synch issues! Now I'm gonna have to either re-dl those games or rip, covert the wav's back to mp3, and re-burn them. *sigh*

Well, at least they'll play perfectly now.
Thanks David for the info!

Your welcome, glad to help.

In the guides I've read for burning backups, I also read that you've need to convert your MP3's. But one day I forgot to rename, and to my suprise, it worked no problem.

Probably too late; I made a guide on how to burn ISO+MP3 rips straight to CD-Rs, using Sonic CD as an example.
