Hey guys, I'm new around here. I joined so I could get help on fixing my Nomad from some of the greater Sega experts here. What happened is the brightness wheel fell inside the unit, so I took out the screws to get it out. I did, but I noticed the unit doesn't open all the way. Now I have the brightness wheel and Nomad, but I don't know how to get the wheel back inside. Can anyone help?

For the unit not opening completely, have you checked the battery compartment for more screws?
I've never had, nor will I ever see a Nomad, so more specific help I cannot give.

Just took apart my nomad last night, didn't have any problems opening it all the way. Opens up like a clamshell and just set the two halves down next to each other.
did you ever fix the wheel?

My Nomad brightness wheel just fell off as well. I've removed the 4 corner screws, however, the final screw behind the battery pack doesn't appear to be a screw at all. Looks like some sort of stud. This is preventing me from opening the unit all the way.
Is there a secret to this?

as for the wheel, mine fell off too. What I did was put it in place and held it down with electrical tape temporarily. Then I used some solder on the metal cylinder inside the wheel, it works great now.

Welcome to 3 and a half years ago. You should buy some Apple stock, I hear they're about to release a 3G iPhone.

I had this same problem and everyone said a regular gamebit would work, whereas I figured I needed a really long one. TmEE, do you have any recommendations for where to find one that is long enough to fit into that really recessed screw hole?
I got mine off ebay years ago, I was under the impression they were all the same. From what I have heard recently though, it is almost luck of the draw. By that I mean I have heard that some gamebits are made out of soft material and stuff up after a few goes. As for the contrast wheel falling out, how does that happen lol! I may have 1 or 2 laying around as I remove them when I do the lcd mod.

Same here, had the shorter gamebit. If you have access to a bench grinder, you can grind the upper part and make the shaft part longer. I guess also depends on what gamebit you have.

or you could use the pen and lighter trick for the gamebit

I recently bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/390308291568 and found it to be long enough. My previous set was too short.
