Has anyone ever heard of this thing?
I was doing a search for a Turbo Duo on ebay and found this: Pioneer Laser Active Sega CD/Turbo Duo System (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8207060143&category=62054&rd)

It's starting bid price is $600!!!

"This Auction is for a Pioneer Laser Active Entertainment System. Pioneer Compatible Laser Disc Player. Model Number CLD-A100. Model Number CLD-A100 It plays Laser Discs, Compact Discs, and Video Games. It includes the Laser Active Base Station as well as both the Sega Hardrive and Turbo Grafix Hardrive. With both Hardrives the owner will be a to play Sega Games, Sega CD Games, Sega Laser Disc Games, Turbo Grafix-16 HU Card Games, Turbo Grafix CD Games, Turbo Duo Games, Turbo Grafix (NEC) Laser Disc Games.

This system is in excellent condition. It is an extremely rare entertainment system as its initial production was quite small in scale and scope. This is item would be an impressive addition to any hard-core game enthusiasts collection."

Yeah, this was a laserdisc player sold a long time ago that had expansion slots for Sega/turbo graphix duo/karaoke and something else... The thing was outrageousily priced just as must Laserdisc players were(something like 1200USD). Then the expansion cards for the Sega or Turbo were another 200-300 dollars.

I remember salivating over it in a gaming magazine when I was a kid. This was back before I even got my own Sega CD... had to of been like 92'.

Yup, I actually was going to buy that same exact lot, but backed out cause it IS a bit overpriced...even for a Laseractive! Its a mediocre laserdisc player at best. The expansion modules for the systems were actually priced HIGHER than the actual consoles themselves! There are, however, a few good LD-exclusives for both modules (known as Mega-LD's and LD-Roms...the previous requiring the Sega module and the latter requiring the Turbo module). Some of note are I Will (The Story of London), Manhattan Requiem, GHost Rush, The Great Pyramid. There were also arcade-perfect ports of Road Avenger (called Road Prosecutor on it) and Time Gal. This was also the only place you could play the game Blue Chicago Blues (from the line of J.B. Harold games) in English. Not too shabby, but the so called "rarity" of the Turbo module itself is really a bit overhyped.

Considering you could get a top of the line DVD player, Sega Genesis & CD, and a Turbo Duo for a fraction of what that costs, I'd say this is something for only the top tier of collecting.

It'd be an interesting conversation piece, though.

I'm excrutiatingly curious about the Mega LD games...
