Hi guys! I've been thinking about using my v1 genesis and making it into a Neptune. But I'm rather fond of the power base.converter as its my only access to master system games. And it looks bad ass.

When doing this mod, is it possible to lower the cartridge contacts in the genesis/32x low enough that the powerbase will still fit on properly? Would the powerbase even work being plugged in to a 32x? (No real way of testing this unless I take shells off of things).

I am aware of the v2 master system converter sold in Europe, but again I like how mine looks, sort of preferential.

I've seen a few guides for doing the Neptune mod on a v2 genesis, are there any up for the v1?

The Power Base Converter is 100% incompatible with the 32X.

As for doing a Neptune in a Model 1 Genesis, it's probably much easier to do given how much extra space is in the Model 1 system.

Aw :( is purely a technical incompatibility, or a physical incompatibility problem (like cartridge fitting)?

It's a technical thing. From a logic level, the two are quite incompatible. I don't remember the specifics, but I think the 32X doesn't carry over some signals needed by the PBC in order to function properly, and/or the two devices share the same data lines during operation. In short, PBC compatibility on the 32X would require a massive rewire. Possibly even a re-engineering of the 32X's design. Can't say for certain on the statistics, as I said. TmEE, Chilly, or pretty much any of the tech guys would be able to discuss the details. I think TmEE tried to add PBC comp to the 32X, but it didn't work out for whatever reason (and yes, he did try doing 40+ re-wirings).
