View Full Version : Sega-16 featured in Retro Gamer Magazine!
The issue hit U.S. bookstores this week (our British friends are a few issues ahead), and it features a great six-page retrospective on the Genesis. Our interviews were cited, and we donated some screen grabs too.

Too bad that's a UK Mega Drive on the cover and not a Genesis (or at leasta Japanese Mega Drive). I really dislike that white "power-on" strip. Ugly. Anyway who canres about the Genesis/Mega Drive? It's Amstrad or NOTHING!
Amstrad! Amstrad! Amstrad!

Does anyone know where I might be able to buy Retro Gamer Magazine in San Diego? Fry's used to stock it until the publisher switched.

Neat! I'm looking forward to reading that article. Can you purchase just one issue online or something?

What I don't get is why a magazine called "Retro Gamer" would only have 6 pages on the Genesis. It should be all about those old systems.

Pretty expensive for a simple magazine. I prefer to invest that money on games rether than on just reading about them.
They cover everything, from the old consoles to the Amstrad and all those old computers. It's really a great magazine, and well worth the price IMO.
Nick, I have permission from the author and RG to post the article after its exclusivity period ends, and since they're two issues ahead, we can go and put it up now. I've emailed John for the final text version (I proofread the draft), and hopefully it will be up either Tuesday or Friday.

Great! How many subscribers does the mag have? Do you know?
Not exactly, but I do know that they're pretty big in Europe, and they have ample distribution in the U.S.
I don't know how big a factor it's been, but since I put up the Tom Kalinske article, our traffic has more than doubled, and it's sustained ever since.

Try Barnes & Noble or Borders. They sometimes carry RG.
Congrats Sega-16! Retro Gamer is by far my favorite mag. I just wish I could afford the £80 subscription price! @_@

I think that Amazon link is out of date. When RG was taken over by a different publisher they went monthly instead of bi-monthly. The current rate for US subscriptions is £80 for 13 issues (12 monthly plus 1 special).
At the current rate Goolge is providing, the 13-issue subscription is around $150. Which comes out to around $11.70 per issue, which is about what RG sells for at B&N anyway. So the subscription wouldn't really save me money, but it would ensure I receive a copy each month instead of hoping B&N decides to stock it each month.

I see...
I went to B&N and was informed that they stock the magazine, but that it was out of stock. I guess I'll just read the article on Sega-16 when Ken posts it.
