Football season is almost upon us, but why wait? Get yourself in the mood with our review (http://www.sega-16.com/2005/07/tecmo-super-bowl/) of the first in Tecmo's pigskin releases on the Genesis, Tecmo Super Bowl.

Tecmo Super Bowl was my favorite football game on the Genesis. For awhile I was into Sports Talk with Joe Montana and a couple of the Maddens but for me and my friends would always come back to Tecmo.

While I'm still a fan of the other Tecmo Super Bowls on the Genesis this is easily the fan favorite since its pretty much the NES version on the Genesis. The stats at halftime were nice when you were going for a record.

I've been playing this game alot lately (also the nes version via emulator)
I love this game so simple, I dont have to look thru the defensive plays and guess which one is the best, same every time! Also I like the music in this game. Definatly better than the snes version (well I played that too on a emulator)
There was one part of your review that was wrong (Only took someone 4 and a half years laters to point out lol)

It would be nice to have special features such as weather conditions and the like.
Well at least for preseason and pro bowl you can choose the weather! (Clear, Snow, Rain) This would be my #1 fav football game for the genesis.

It is an excellent, excellent game. Really it's good for all platforms, I feel the Genesis version gets it completely right, while the NES version has too much flicker and the SNES version almost feels like a completely different game.

That being said, TSB III is far better on the SNES than on the Genesis, but I'll get to that in a review sometime.

i was blown away by the nes version which i first played a few months ago especially when i perused through the team data and saw a pretty acurate picture of each player. thats crazy for a 8 bit game to have such depth. i thought it was kinda funny to see some of the tv personalities that i watch today like mike golic, and mark shlereth pictured in the game as they looked in their playing days, i wonder what their responces would be if they were to look at some of those today. as for the genny port it is pretty awesome but i feel like it couldve been much better especially the graphics even without straying too far from the original they couldve done a better job, but that doesnt mean its a bad game by any means at all
