Man, I remember picking mine up on its release day at J&R Music World in NY. Happy Birthday my friend.

Huzzah! Many happy returns!

I guess it's especially significant that I recently graduated from emulation only to playing on a real Genesis!

You proved to be the best competition for Nintendo and provided games that were better in every way. You gave me happiness as a child and I grew up adoring your games and characters. For that I thank you. To the greatest console of them all. The Mega Drive/Genesis!

Been playing and collecting for a while, and I will be for a while to come.

That sounds more like an obituary than a birthday wish.

Not meant to, what I was trying to do was thank the console for what it has produced for us, in the best possible light. I apologise if it all sounds like an obituary to you.
